Omegaverse series by G.R. Cooper (Books 1-3 boxset, #4)
Requirements: EPUB / MOBI Reader, 1.4MB
Overview: G.R. Cooper is a twenty year veteran of the game industry, mostly spent in the trenches of massively multi-player online game development. He’s done a little of everything; producing, level design, AI scripting, community management, customer support – even a little 3D modeling – but he considers himself a game designer at heart. He’s worked for big game companies you’ve heard of, as well as a lot of little start-ups that never went anywhere (but were a whole metric butt-load of fun to work at).
Genre: Fiction, Sci-Fi
#1 Shepherd Moon (included in the boxset)
Duncan Sheriden enters, at the bidding of several friends, into the virtual universe; the Omegaverse. As he explores the alien races, star systems and planets, he discovers a rich, vast, limitless expanse of possibilities.
From gritty fights for control of colonies with hostile alien and human forces, to interstellar trade, to thrilling hunts to eradicate space piracy, to epic battles between star-ships, Duncan finds himself drawn deeper and deeper into the virtual world.
As Duncan gains and evolves his online power, his ‘real world’ friends and activities take smaller and smaller roles as Duncan is, unbeknownst to himself, being targeted for special attention by forces he doesn’t even realize exist.
#2 – Shepherd’s Crook (included in the boxset)
Duncan Sheriden and his friends continue their adventures in the Omegaverse. In addition to raids into Arn strongholds and further business dealing with the Canis Arcturus, Duncan finds himself thrust into ever more powerful and influential roles within the larger game universe – thrust by his own actions, as well as entities outside of his ken.
#3 – Shepherd’s Cross (included in the boxset)
Duncan’s life feels like it’s spinning out of control, as his ever expanding role in the world of the Omegaverse begins to take over his real life. His friends try to help him, but what can they do when it seems like the entire game world is on his shoulders? The space station, Shepherd’s Crook, is now open to the public – and that public is making demands on Duncan with which he’s having a difficult time dealing.
Wasn’t this supposed to be a game? Wasn’t it supposed to be fun?
#4 – The Kings of Edonis
After permanently leaving his earthly body behind and entering the Omegaverse forever, Duncan Sheriden is ready to begin his quest – to find his friend Shannon, who he had inadvertently resurrected within the game world after her death.
Resurrected her within a portion of the Omegaverse separate from the space battles he’d come to know, within a fantasy world where standard Role Playing Game rules applied, a fantasy world that operated at the speed of thought. Every second of the earthly time-scale was a much greater length of time within the fantasy realm, and every second he spent before entering that world gave Shannon that much more time to get further lost.
