2. The Gold Deadline
The clock is ticking… A lovely night at the Boguslav Ballet was supposed to be a relaxing evening out for Norma Gold and her brilliant, if somewhat eccentric husband, Alexander… Instead the evening was pure murder. It was the kind of case only Gold’s genius could solve. In the next box, the notoriously nasty impresario Viktor Boguslav, the ballet’s owner, was viciously stabbed during the show. The box’s door was locked, the seats could be seen by hundreds of spectators, and Boguslav never uttered a sound. The only other person in the box was billionaire Max Baron’s son, Jeffrey. Desperate to protect his son, Max promises Alexander Gold one million dollars if he can clear Jeffrey of the murder in thirty-six hours, before the ballet troupe leaves town. But can Gold pull off the seemingly impossible and solve the murder in such a short space of time?

3. The Gold Frame
Somehow the unassuming Alexander Gold and his wife Norma keep getting mixed up with bizarre, and sometimes dangerous, criminal cases.
Becoming increasingly fearful, Norma asks her neighbour Burton about the possibility of sourcing a gun, but instead of coming away with a weapon, the Golds soon find themselves handed another case…
Burton soon reveals a mystery that involves Vermeer’s Young Girl in a Turban and a woman named Hannelore Becker.
Hannelore has recreated Vermeers with such skill and knowledge and love, that museums became involved.
And so did Daniel Pereira Belmont: eighty years old and one of the richest men in New York and the supposed owner of the Fine Arts Museum of New York.
Norma is suspicious. No one owns a museum that size, but Burton promises that Belmont will reveal all himself the next day.
But then the museum’s flamboyant director is murdered over his lunch of oysters and champagne.

4. The Gold Curse
There’s a tedious start where the action of a charity performance of Verdi’s Rigoletto is described. At the end of the opera a seemingly impossible murder takes place on stage. From that point, the rest of the book consists of the pair of detectives Alexander & Norma Gold interviewing the various suspects at length before having the last part of the opera restaged to catch the murderer. No narrative drive, an unlikeable narrator, and a plot where you have to remember not only the character’s name but who he or she is playing in the opera. If you enjoy reading sentences like this: ‘Then, in the last act, Maddalena suggests that Sparafucile kill Rigoletto instead of the Duke. That gave Malabar the idea of using Brezhnikov to kill D’Aquilla so she could be free to marry Zacharias’ this book is for you otherwise avoid like the plague.

5. The Gold Gamble
Somehow, the show must go on… Norma Gold and her friend Pearl are co-producing a Broadway revival of Guys and Dolls , with the help of Maxwell Sapphire, who hasn’t had a hit in four years. Alexander Gold and Burton Hanslik have invested $2.5 million in the show, so Norma and Pearl are under pressure to make it a winner! There are always problems in the theatre. And Sapphire is determined for his mistress, Lisa Terrane, to star in a role on which rests the whole show… But Norma and Pearl force him to star an old school friend of Norma’s, Carol Sands, instead, but to placate Sapphire, Lisa Terrane is made Carol’s understudy. Then, three days before the critics’ preview, Lisa Terrane is found cruelly murdered in her dressing room. And Carol Sands is the only person on the floor at that time… Burton persuades Lieutenant Warshafsky to hold off arresting his star until the critics’ preview night. But it is made very clear that if Alexander Gold can’t solve the case by then, the show will have to close, taking with it Norma’s and Pearl’s dreams and all of Alexander’s and Burton’s money… The night of the preview Warshafsky suddenly announces that he must arrest Carol at once and Alexander finds himself in a race against time to save Carol, the show, his wife, his money and his pride.
