Rick’s day just went to crap. So did his secret identity.
All he wanted was to be left alone. As the most powerful mutant on the planet, it should have been an impossible dream… Except he destroyed the group that created him nearly twenty years ago. Or so he thought. Returning from the dead, they threaten the city he calls home, forcing him out of the shadows. Even worse, the government agency tasked with defending the country against mutant threats is after him, convinced he’s the actual threat. Now it’s a race against time, trying to stay one step ahead of the government while trying to protect the city he’s come to call home. Will his mutant ability to control both potential and kinetic energy be enough to end the threat? Or will he fail like he did two decades earlier?

Between them struggling to mesh as a team, and his vastly increased powers, he can’t help but question if he’s made the right choice. Their next mission could either make or break them as they’re sent to investigate rumors of a possible mutant capable of controlling the weather. With the naivety of an untested teammate and a team leader that he discovers is new to the position is adding to Rick’s doubts. With new powers he’s trying to understand through the help of a woman who haunts his dreams, a woman that may or may not be real, Rick is also beginning to doubt his own sanity. Lives are on the line, including their own, and they need to pull together as a team before they themselves become victims of the mutant bent on their destruction. A mutant quite possibly more powerful than himself.
Kinetic Reaction.
After Rick’s involvement with stopping an attempted robbery nearly exposed the existence of mutants to the public, Kaitlyn’s position as team leader is in jeopardy.
An unexpected link to Rick’s past, uncovered because of the fight, provides her one last chance to prove herself. That link, a drug capable of turning ordinary people into high-powered mutant soldiers, appears to be similar to the treatment that gave Rick his extraordinary powers when he was still with Maelstrom.
The only lead they have is the name of a place Rick never thought he’d ever hear again. A base located somewhere in the heart of an area where technology fails, a mysterious place known to the locals as La Zona del Silencio, otherwise known as the Zone of Silence. Making matters worse is the discovery that the enemy has a weapon that can not only neutralize Rick’s powers, it can incapacitate him completely.
To top it off, Rick is starting to hallucinate. He keeps hearing murmuring voices that don’t exist, causing him to question his own sanity. Now it’s a race against time to find the source of the drug and shut it down before Maelstrom launches their master plan to eliminate the world’s governments and take over… and before Rick loses his mind.
