This Anthology presents the reader with some of the earliest known ‘classic’ Science Fiction Short Stories – all of them published between 1858 and 1934.
These tales will feature works that are both well-known and others that have been overlooked over the decades for one reason or another, works created by some of the now ‘legendry’ writers who helped birth the genre we all love and adore and other stories which are not as well known or appreciated as they deserve to be. The topics covered by these varied tales involve subjects and scientific methods thought at the time to be fanciful which are now everyday occurrences in our lifetime or accepted and proven scientific facts. These include aspects about the possibility of Alien Life Forms, Transmogrification, Pandemics, Life on Mars, Artificial Intelligence, Attractive Female Androids and Robots, Big Data, Faster Than Light methods of transport and Antigravity, Matter Transmission, Microscopic Lifeforms and lastly Impact Events effects on the environment and lifeforms present when they occur (Dinosaurs).
These hand-picked short stories from all over the world have all been reprinted in full and included in their original unedited format or in English translations of their original format. Alongside these classic and in many cases unavailable in print today short stories, are extensive commentaries by the Author of this collection, which also examine some of the latest scientific thinking surrounding the main theme or the rationale behind each individual story. Additionally the collections Author provides the reader with suggestions for further reading or topics of research should you wish to learn more about these early writers of the genre or what they have written about.
