Overview: As a daughter to missionary parents, USA Today bestselling author Kimberly Rae Jordan spent the first 18 years of her life in Asia with only periodic visits "home" to Canada. With limited access to television, Kimberly spent many hours reading and creating stories in her head.
Genre: Romance
The Harmony of Love (#7): To those around her, her life plays like a simple melody. But she hears the whole song, complete with the harsh sounds of discordant notes. Along with everything else she does at the family’s lodge, Leah McNamara also finds the time to write music, using it as an outlet for the things she’s experiencing in her life. Leah would be perfectly content with her life at the lodge and her music if she wasn’t worried about the secrets she’s kept hidden from her family that are now threatening to be revealed. If that were to happen, the betrayal her mom and siblings would feel could damage everything.
The realization of his dream had been like a beautiful song, until someone else’s actions brings it all to an end. Gavin Colley is unsettled, set adrift when the popular contemporary Christian music group he’d founded crashes and burns in a fiery scandal. When he hears a song being sung by a woman whose voice resonates with him, he sets off to convince her to write and record a song with him. He hopes it might help to give him the direction he needs to move forward.
As he bides his time, waiting for the right moment to ask her to collaborate with him, Gavin finds himself intrigued by the prickly woman. Being around her is the perfect distraction from the mess his career is in. But there’s also something more there that he hadn’t expected to find when he’d made his way to New Hope Falls.
When Gavin shows up at the lodge, Leah knows who he is and what’s happened. She has long admired his talent as a fellow musician, so she finds herself getting closer to him than she would normally with a guest at the lodge.
But even as they draw closer, Leah knows that anything beyond friendship is impossible. Their lives don’t harmonize since Gavin’s life is on the other side of the country and he’s frequently on tour, while Leah prefers being behind the scenes and helping at her family’s lodge. But when love finds its way into their hearts, will they try to bring their lives into harmony? Or will they be left with heartache?
Somewhere Along the Way (#8): She is already busy juggling her life, but now she’s been roped into helping plan her high school reunion.
Emma Clarke breaks up the solitude of life on her small farm outside of New Hope Falls by helping out at the florist shop in town. Except now she’s on the reunion committee with people she’d never spent any time with in high school. Which would have been fine if it hadn’t been for him also being part of the reunion committee. An injury has derailed his career and put his future health in jeopardy, so after ten years away, he’s come home to New Hope Falls.
Tanner MIkkelson never planned to return to the small town where he grew up. As star of the high school football team, he’d gone on to college fame which opened the door to a career as a professional quarterback. After several super successful years, his fame and fortune have grown enormously, but they are no protection against a hit that causes a serious concussion. With a history of concussions, he takes the advice of his doctors to retire from the sport.
As he contemplates his next move, Tanner finds himself fighting boredom in the small town he grew up in. When offered the chance to serve on the reunion committee, he jumps at it. While he’s not exactly wanting to reconnect with all his classmates, there is one person he’d like to see again.
Emma may have at one time considered Tanner a friend–and possibly wished for something more–but that is no longer the case. She’d honestly hoped to never see him again. Harsh words he’d spoken to her back in high school had fractured their friendship irreparably, as far as Emma is concerned.
With his injury forcing him to reevaluate many things in his life, Tanner has to acknowledge that he treated Emma and their friendship badly. Top of his list upon return to New Hope Falls is to apologize and try to make things right with Emma. Too bad she really doesn’t want to give him the time of day. He hopes that working on the reunion committee together will help, but she isn’t making it easy.
Giving up and walking away is always an option, but Tanner finds he doesn’t want to do that. Will Emma give him a chance for friendship–since that’s still all he can offer her–even though last time he’d broken her heart? Emma isn’t sure about opening the door for friendship because her feelings got involved the last time she did that. And falling in love with Tanner? Yeah, that’s the last thing she wants.
