Overview: It’s Oliver Lord’s annual New Year’s party. All of his friends are invited, and he has many friends. Amongst them are Ethan Robert and Joanne Kaneda. While they both came with their girlfriends, they briefly meet, and become fast friends. As the night progresses though, misunderstandings lead to heartbreak, and both of them are dumped.
A combination of alcohol and loneliness leads to Ethan and Joanne waking up the next day in bed with one another, but the situation only grows more complex from there. Carlie, Joanne’s girlfriend, apologizes, saying she did not in fact dump her, and so Joanne leaves to reunite with her. On the other hand, Jessica, Ethan’s ex, convinces him to return to her a few days later.
Life seems to return to normal for the two couples, but fate is a tricky thing, and Joanne later learns that she is pregnant. In crisis, Joanne decides to keep the child, and contacts Ethan, as she wants him to be part of his child’s life. Wanting to be responsible, and having secretly wished to be a father, Ethan agrees.
This decision leads the two into an emotional minefield, where they must each try to balance being both responsible parents, and committed to their girlfriends. The situation is further complicated as Ethan and Joanne begin to develop feelings for one another, calling everything they believed to be true about themselves and their lives into question.
