He went to France as a member of the British Expeditionary Force, and was one of the thousands rescued at Dunkirk. Upon his return to England, he entered pilot training school. John is a colourful and determined person, a man of many talents, an artist and dress maker,(made his wifes wedding dress) and he even built his own house in Australia, plus owned a Tiger Moth and ran his own flying school. He travelled the world and lived an exciting life, and detailed in this book is a full account of his flying career from start to finish.
