Overview: Following his disastrous proposal to Elizabeth Bennet, a heartbroken and dejected Fitzwilliam Darcy returns to London. The force of Elizabeth’s resentment scorches his soul, and he is resolved not to regret the lady. Feelings of love and regret, however, cannot be governed, and when the anger passes, remorse develops.
Mr Darcy encounters Jane Bennet in London, and he confesses his ill judgment to his friend afterwards. This consequently brings Mr Bingley back to Hertfordshire.
Meanwhile, Elizabeth copes with the emotional aftermath of the gentleman’s proposal and his letter of explanation to her, facing the dilemma as she tries to discover the real Mr Darcy.
When she sees the gentleman in London, she avoids the encounter, too remorseful and uncertain of Mr Darcy’s reaction.
The couple renews their acquaintance eventually when Elizabeth travels into Derbyshire with her Aunt and Uncle Gardiner. Shortly, the love blossoms at Pemberley.
Fate, however, is not on the lovers’ side and intervenes, threatening the happily ever after of literature’s favourite love story.
