Overview: In nineteenth century Chicago, Mrs. O’Leary runs a boarding house for aliens, really aliens. Among her long time boarders are a being who is a ball of energy and Earth’s guardian; a being who looks like a cow, but only on a dark night; and a very large cat-like being who can levitate and disappear leaving only a smile.
Merapet is a frequent visitor. She is another cat-like person and the guardian of the heir of the largest and richest empire in the stars.
Mr. Sajewix is a new guest. He looks like a large rabbit with a long tail, but he has the teeth and the unpleasant temperament of a wolverine.
And the Relic comes to Earth. Defying description because it is different things to different species, the Relic is rumored to be from the beginning of the universe. It is said to bring good fortune to the world it resides on. There are those, though, who believe that where it goes, violence and tragedy soon follow.
As Thanksgiving approaches, an overly chatty daisy, who won’t take "no" for an answer, threatens to disrupt Mrs. O’Leary’s dinner with her family. However ornamental the three foot tall daisy is, Mrs. O’Leary really can’t explain a talking daisy as a bad birth defect.
Villains, both human and otherwise, also threaten Mrs. O’Leary as Earth’s guardian can’t always protect her.
