Overview: Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy meeting a young Miss Elizabeth Bennet almost two and one half years before the Meryton Assembly in Jane Austen’s masterpiece. In P and P, that extra time allowed Darcy to harden his feelings and brought him great angst such as when George Wickham attempted to elope with Darcy’s sister, and later did the same with Lydia Bennet. That added time also made him frustrated as he knew he should marry well, yet he never found a woman who he was interested in. The Darcy in P and P was frustrated, unfriendly and arrogant.
Meeting a young Elizabeth opened his heart for the first time. Soon he discovered that he cared for her and his feelings grew by the day, but the same was true of Elizabeth. Neither of them were experienced in matters of the heart, yet events would soon bring them together and allow them to decide if they had a future together.
