Moonstone series by Vanessa Haberkorn (Books #2-3)

Overview: I’ve always loved storytelling. During kindergarten, I often drew out stories in notebooks about my pets and imaginary animal characters. As I got older, I continued to have an interest in reading and daydreaming about "episodes" involving fictional characters of my own. It was during high school when I first got serious about writing fiction. I went to Francis Marion University and majored in art, with a minor in Spanish. However, I also took creative writing and psychology classes, and continued writing novels. My senior art show was centered around a novel I had written. In my free time, I enjoy creating digital paintings of my characters, which you can find on my website. I also like playing video games, where I get a lot of my inspiration from. I love animals, and I’m also a crazy plant lady, with a bunch of houseplants I tend to, including an angry Venus flytrap about the size of a pinky that’s currently preparing for dormancy outside in the cold.

Power by Moonstone (Book #2)
Joby and his friends Samantha, Evan, and Oliver are part of the few who know about moonstones; these space rocks allow each person to control a certain aspect of nature: from wind, lightning, rain, and fire, to healing wounds. However, while his friends are off at college classes, Joby’s stuck with a retail job that he hates, and soon gets involved with a local street art group. His new "friends" seem increasingly more interested in committing crimes than in the art itself, and it isn’t long before they want Joby to introduce them to moonstones. Joby’s loyalty between his two groups of friends is tested, but all the stress is affecting his aim with his lightning. His unresolved romantic feelings for the ever-busy Samantha aren’t helping, either.
Meanwhile Samantha and Evan are still assisting Professor Lemmings with moonstone research. This time, their sights are set on origin stones, more powerful versions of the elemental moonstones. But where did they come from? And what do they have to do with the kitsune, a tribe of magical foxes capable of mastering every element? To find out, Samantha, Evan, Joby, and Oliver must travel to many places, learning the history of the elements along the way. But unknown to them is the evil shadow which watches them, just waiting for its chance to strike…
Corpuless (Book #3)
Taking a break from moonstones and the elements, Evan, his twin sister Samantha, and their friends spend their summer break at Quela, a place known for its ruins, glyphs, and secrets. However, soon they realize Quela has issues: the rotting bodies of dogs are attacking the villagers, and once bitten, the people begin to fall under the control of an ancient monster at nighttime. After Evan is attacked and his life is at stake, Samantha, Joby, and Oliver put their own lives at risk in their attempts to save him. Meanwhile Samantha and Joby’s romantic relationship begins to have problems. Are they better off as friends, or will love find a way?
Samantha is willing to reason with the monster behind all this: Corpuless. But who is the true victim and villain when Corpuless had once been killed unfairly by the ancestors of the villagers? Can he be reasoned with, or will the villagers have something to say to this? A tale exploring the grayness of good and evil.
