Overview: When I first started writing novels, my focal point was creating interesting characters experiencing paranormal events such as ghosts and demons. It was fun setting up the scenes in haunted houses and often gave me a chill even as I wrote it! I have two series of eerie novels written under my first pen name — Michelle Dorey.
I created a hybrid series, the Mystical Veil featuring a young woman reluctantly dragged into a world of spirits and demons. It is one of my favorite creations as it involved wonderful relationships. First, Keira meeting her grandmother and finding in the eccentric old lady a kindred spirit. Her friendship with Gwen evolved as they fought side by side against dark forces in the netherworld. And who couldn’t love the push-pull love relationship Keira develops with Gwen’s Ass-Hat brother?
A trip to Ireland with my sister inspired the Celtic Knot series. It was magical and quirky! Both the trip and the series of books! Love the Ring of Kerry in southern Ireland!
My urban fantasy, women’s paranormal fiction novels are written under Shelley Dorey. Shelley was my nickname growing up and reflects a fun, lighter era, much like the tales written under this pen name.

Witch Interrupted (#1)
Meet Samara Kane, the Witch who won’t wear ‘Crone’ well…
Turning fifty is supposed to be fabulous, right? Samara Kane, a witch with more sass than a black cat in a feather boa, thinks so. Except for the stiff joints, reading glasses, and the constant need for a hair dye intervention, it’s all fine wine and magic spells. And sure, the villa in Spain makes it easier to deal with the advancing years.
Enter Sage, Samara’s determined daughter. She’s finished high school in Europe and is now hell-bent on exploring the family roots in the mystical village of Harmony Grove. It’s across the pond, back home in Canada.
Samara knows the place all too well—the village harboring not one but two covens of powerful witches. The magical waters of the Stream and the Cove are the center of their lives, and the wellspring of their powers. Naturally, there’s been constant friction between the two leading families on how things are run.
Samara fled to Spain years ago, seeking calm and avoiding magical chaos. But Sage is as stubborn as her mom, declaring, "I’m going, with or without you!"
"Fine! Go, and you’ll come running back!" Samara retorts.
Well, Sage has been gone a year and doesn’t seem to have any intention of returning to Spain.
Samara’s not been alone though. No sooner did Sage clear out for her trip than Max pads in the door. The window, actually. Max is more than the street-smart alley cat he appears to be.
For starters, he can talk, but only Samara understands him. Guess who Max claims as his "familiar"? That’s right—Samara herself, a soon-to-be “cat lady” at fifty.
"Relax, Bubelah," Max reassures her. "You and I share a remarkable history…"
He’s not kidding; but it’s a history that’s more Jerry Springer than Hallmark.
When Samara gets news that her elderly Nana is severely ill, she’s pulled back to Harmony Grove—a place she vowed never to return. Jet-lagged and dealing with prickly relatives, Samara’s world gets crazier with her sassy feline companion.
Max does better with this family reunion than she does.
And just when she thinks things can’t get worse—or better—an old flame resurfaces.
Raylan Foster is still single? Hmmm… Things are starting to brew nicely for Samara’s love life.
But this witch’s caldron gets dumped on its side when a murder shocks the village and Samara becomes the prime suspect. She has 48 hours to prove her innocence, or the covens will strip her of magic. She’ll be trading spells for an orange jumpsuit.
Witching Hours (#2)
The nightmare started when she found the dead guy at the side of the road.
Hold onto your broomsticks, because Becky, our middle-aged, kitchen-witch extraordinaire, is about to brew up a paranormal storm in the charming village of Harmony Grove. Life was all about muffin recipes and her mindless job until Becky stumbled upon the dead dude, and things got weirder than a scuba-diving chicken.
Now, our sassy kitchen witch is hearing voices—oh, not just any voices, but those of the spectral kind. She’s got a feisty ghost named Amy in her head, haunting her with snarky comments and sexy dreams about the aforementioned dead guy. As if midlife weren’t confusing enough!
When an antique watch with more secrets than a teenage diary appears in her apartment, Becky decides she needs backup. She reaches out to Samara, the coven leader in Harmony Grove, hoping someone can shut up Amy and stop the haunting before Becky ends up checking herself into the local looney bin.
But, hold the cauldron! There’s more to the story. Turns out, that watch is more ancient than last week’s leftover pizza and has a history that even Becky didn’t see coming. Amy, the voice in her head, is on a mission to find her long-lost love, and she’s not punching out until she does.
