Overview: Dennis Fueyo was born in Los Angeles, California where he began a career in molecular biology working in research and development that would span ten years and lead him to Raleigh, North Carolina. He is currently a technical writer for method development activities and quality assurance topics related to molecular diagnostic assays.
Dennis wrote his first fantasy novel in 2017. After creating material to become the sequel, his creative group decided to break up the novel, add the extra content, and release the combined story as a series of five short stories called The Dendemon Satellites (subtitled The Rauyome Chronicles). His next book will be published in two parts, collectively called Master Hunter. "The Stone Scry" takes place in near future North Carolina after an accelerated period of climate change called the Wash. "Cuddles" concludes the story wringing protagonist Sam Mason through his darkest emotions under the watchful eye of his guardian angel, an entity belonging to a race called sentinels. This guardian angel appears when threatened as a bear-sized black lioness and calls forth hundreds of withered, grey arms from the soil to tear its enemies apart–and goes by the name Cuddles.

#1 – The Stone Scry
The news incessantly runs vignettes describing unrest in the Southwest and hurricanes slamming the Southeast Coast. A ten-year accelerated climate change cycle has begun. Los Angeles born biologist Tom Mason discovers a gene regulating neural growth factor in engineered mosquitoes that prevents disease outbreaks. His world-renowned work drags the Mason family into the secret world of retired pharmaceutical giant Arnold Stone, who envisions other uses for the expression system.
Tom raises his son, Sam Mason, in Raleigh, North Carolina as the Earth changes. Tribes form along the Southeast Coast in the wake of civilization’s mass exodus into the mountains. Those left behind must carve a living amidst gangs, mutated man-eating animals and plants, pestilent weather, and a swelling barbarian horde. Estranged from his father, Sam moves to Wilmington and joins the Divers, a powerful tribe supplying freshwater to an exhausted, starving Southwest.
While Sam competes with sharks the size of a school bus for food, Tom travels into North Carolina’s swamplands to collect strange samples escorted by the newly formed, elite Navy swamp stompers. A sadistic interdimensional being coerces Tom to make a deal. Disillusioned by the Divers, worried about his mother alone in Raleigh, Sam defects from the Divers. He must make a choice – leave his tribe to fight the horde or help his father fulfill the bargain, sliding into a wasteland rife with mutation and under control by interdimensional beings that harvest energy from the dead.
#2 – Cuddles
A ten-year period of accelerated climate change cripples the United States. In its wake, a barbarian horde punches through the east coast usurping the water trade from established, successful tribes. Those like Master Hunter Sam Mason’s, the largest tribe in Wilmington, North Carolina. Sam’s father, biologist Tom Mason, travels with psychiatrist Emelia Stone from Raleigh bringing help. Not a regiment of Navy elite swamp stompers, they are children of the green pill capable of telepathy, vision beyond the light spectrum, and heightened reflexes—they are the reinforcements.
The Battle of Wilmington ensues and a new enemy reveals itself. Sam and his friends join his father’s team to head south over ganglands, past mutated man-eating beasts, and through a hurricane seeking answers. They must confront a new race, one mutated by the Stone strain harnessing powers like those of the green pill. The race created a new, powerful energy source using radiotrophic fungi, and none who seeks them ever return.
But a mysterious interdimensional entity watches over Sam, bound by an agreement struck with his father. Described as unsympathetic, destructive, and selfish, and known for farming human souls for sustenance, the entity might be Sam’s only hope to survive his journey. It assumed the role of a family pet decades ago under a name representing happier times, and still uses this name today—Cuddles.
