Overview: I was born in York and brought up in the West Yorkshire mill town of Heckmondwike, the eldest grandchild of a huge extended family. All the rest of my cousins stayed in Heckmondwike, but we moved about a lot because my father kept changing his job on account of he could never agree with his bosses. I had lived in nine different houses and attended four different schools before I grew up.

June Blacker is a sensible, respectable woman – a language teacher beloved by her pupils. But she seems doomed to become an old maid. She has never had a lover because nobody wants to kiss a fat girl. And June is fat – very fat indeed.
But then she meets Ignacio, her holiday romance. Ignacio thinks she is beautiful. He wants to kiss her over and over again. And a strange thing happens to June. She starts losing weight – a lot of weight. Could Ignacio be THE MANTEQUERO?
#2 – Disappeared
Miss Blacker has disappeared. She never came back after the Christmas holidays and Alison is convinced something dreadful has happened to her.
When nobody believes her she sets off to Spain to track down the woman whom she believes to be the best teacher in the world.
It wouldn’t have been so bad if her companion, Heather Jones, hadn’t have been quite so fat. The mantequero likes fat girls. He likes them a lot.

#3 – Sins of the Father
Rupert is having very strange and disturbing dreams about his dead father. In his dreams his father is a dark, shadowy figure who preys on people while they sleep. But in his waking life Rupert knows nothing about him. His mother refuses to talk about it. Then he meets Samantha and together they decide to find out what happened and track his father down.
