1. Peril in Paradise
When free spirit Mallie Monroe finally decides to settle down, she hauls her antique Airstream trailer and teacup poodle to Coral Island, Florida, where she takes a reporting job at the local newspaper. Her restless, gypsy lifestyle is finally behind her.
Unfortunately, her visions of paradise quickly fade during the long, hot summer. Her editor hates her writing; her poodle hates the beach; and her skin hates the blistering sun. To keep her editor happy, she registers for a local author’s Summer Writers’ Institute. But when the author is murdered on the eve of a tropical storm and an uptight, local cop, Detective Billie, considers Mallie a suspect, she turns her journalistic talents to investigative reporting on a story that may get her killed.
2. Island Intrigue
When an unseasonable cold snap hits Coral Island in Southwest Florida, reporter Mallie Monroe tries to stay warm even as she scrambles for a way to heat up her news stories. Between boring town hall meetings and tedious elementary school events, the island seems to be settling into a deep freeze.
But when a local boy disappears, Mallie swings into investigative mode much to the dismay of sexy island cop Nick Billie. To complicate matters, the newspaper’s pseudo-psychic becomes Mallie’s unwitting sidekick, offering unwanted advice from the astral world.
When the boy’s father turns up dead, Mallie unfortunately finds herself once again tracking down a killer. As Detective Billie’s reserve finally begins to melt, Mallie starts to wonder if the murderer will put her on ice as well.
3. Murder in the Mangroves
Mallie Monroe’s life as a reporter on Coral Island has finally settled down. She’s adjusted to the Florida lifestyle, received a small raise, and is enjoying a playful romance with island cop Nick Billie. Things start to heat up when Mallie’s old boyfriend, Cole, reappears and she finds herself torn between two men.
But just before the annual Mango Festival which had promised to be a pleasant distraction, the body of the Mango Queen is found in the mangroves. So it’s back to business, and Mallie is assigned to report on the case. She soon finds that the murderer isn’t the only one in town to worry about, as her investigation begins digging up old secrets that many islanders prefer to remain buried.
Can Mallie find the key to the Mango Queen’s death before the killer plants her under the nearest tropical tree? And if she survives that, will she be able to decide whether Nick or Cole holds the key to her heart?
4. Killer Kool
It’s October on Coral Island, and Mallie Monroe is learning how to multitask: she’s juggling two men, Nick and Cole; helping her office pal, Sandy, plan a fall wedding; and trying to find a way to adjust to her new assignment as the Observer’s food critic.
The summer doldrums are officially over as the island prepares for cooler weather and its first Taste of the Island. Unfortunately, Madame Geri, the island’s freelance psychic, appears at the newspaper declaring that the upcoming nuptials of her son, Jimmy, and Sandy are in jeopardy because of a possible killer on the loose.
Mallie knows where to start: Carlos Santini has recently died from an apparent heart attack, and everyone believes that his brother, Chef Marco, was somehow involved. So Mallie teams up with Madame Geri to add another task to her list: solve the crime and make certain that the wedding doesn’t end up on a canceled list.
