Between this force and the other dark trials she must face, and her sister’s life hanging in the balance, Lucy begins to wonder if her life wants anything but depression from her…

The Kidnapped Army (#2) After narrowly escaping the Dust with her sister in November, the next couple months have been unnervingly quiet for Lucy Hale. But being nearly sacrificed by Depression is enough to make almost everything else quiet. Or unnerving.
Unfortunately, Lucy’s flighty mom (and newest challenge) Alice, is anything but quiet. Between her spontaneously rejoining Lucy’s family after years of silence ,and news of an upcoming class field trip, Lucy hasn’t been able to appreciate the peace and quiet of still being alive. Even painting, what the Dust labeled her "Handle," or weapon against Depression, hasn’t put her at ease–and she can’t figure out why. On top of this, Lucy’s hopes of getting any rest on the field trip are interrupted when her friend Chug, an ex-Depression Agent, alerts Lucy to trouble in the Dust: Her Depression Force friend and ally Dart has gone missing.
To make matters worse, Chug’s gang, The Abandoned, are the prime suspects for his disappearance. To prove The Abandoned’s innocence, Lucy, Chug, and the unspoken leader of the Abandoned, Woodstock, follow the trail to The Headmistress, a deranged Zone-Holder who is bent on restoring her Anchor Zone to its former glory by any means necessary. To save her friend and help The Abandoned, Lucy will have to team up with the others to rescue Dart before he is permanently bent to the Headmistress’ will. But things take a turn for the worst when the Depression Force adds Lucy to their suspect list, branding her as a traitorous fugitive.
Now Lucy and her new Depression Agent friends must race the clock to save Dart from the Headmistress’ clutches in the Anchor Zone of Anxiety before he’s gone for good and they’re all taken into Depression Force custody. In order to stand a chance against the Headmistress, Lucy will also have to uncover the mystery behind her malfunctioning Handle before it costs her a heavy price…
…all before her field trip ends and she’s reported missing a second time–an outcome sure to spell trouble for her and everyone else.
