Little Yokai Series (1-3) by Scott Walker
Requirements: ePUB / MOBI Reader, 2.7MB | Retail
Overview: Scott’s fascination with fictional worlds and stories began mere minutes after learning to read (seven, to be exact).
No surprise, then, that he changed his declared major from Computer Science to Creative Writing during his second semester of college.
Scott has explored various forms of storytelling over the years, including collaborative entertainment models and literally decades throwing dice under various RPG systems (on both sides of the DM screen). He has also designed and produced two original immersive/interactive entertainment experiences.
Scott’s imagination may take him to lands of mystery and wonder, but he always returns to his home town of Los Angeles. At least,

#1 – Caged
They say no good deed goes unpunished. That went double for Little Yokai.
My name’s Keiko Miller. I’ve been an agent at the Los Angeles Bureau of Souls office for four years, and I’m one of the best. I ought to be – I’m half Yokai. So trust me when I say I know all about the supernatural entities who spilled into Japan thirty years ago. I’m one of them.
But that’s a secret I guard like my job and my life depend on it, because they literally do. So when I secretly help a Yokai who winds up dead just hours later, I’m worried about more than just finding her killer. Making matters worse, my Bureau boss tasks me with solving the murder case and assigns me a by-the-book partner who doesn’t like me to begin with.
Now I’m carrying around a metric ton of guilt and trying to solve this mystery without giving away my Yokai secret. The smart thing would be to play nice with my partner, mark the case unsolved, and quietly walk away. Guess I’m just not that smart.
#2 – Hunted
I’ve got a sackful of secrets, and any one of them would land me in hot water with my employer, the Bureau of Souls. That damn sack gets heavier every day…
For my entire life, I’ve kept the Yokai side of my family private. Thanks to Madara, the magical koi fish who hides my Yokai aura, only my father knows I’m part kitsune. Sure, it sucks leading a life of lies, but I’ve got things under control.
Until I don’t.
Rifts are appearing in the veil, the magical barrier separating the physical plane from the Yokai home world. Objects are coming alive. People are dying. Par for the course for a Bureau Agent like me.
But when Madara starts acting weird after I get too close to a rift, I’m left with two choices:
(A) solve the case and reveal my kitsune Yokai side
or
(B) don’t solve the case and let a bunch of people die.
I really need to find option C.
Like, yesterday.
#3 – Mirrored
I’m on the hunt for a serial killer stalking the Yokai of Los Angeles – and the killer might just be a fellow Bureau of Souls agent.
I’ve been dealing with a lot over the past two months. I’m in hot water with the Bureau after helping a kijo suspect escape to the Yokai homeworld of Furusato. My magical koi companion, Madara, is falling down on the job when it comes to hiding my Yokai aura. And my dad’s dementia is worsening. Point is, I’ve got a lot on my plate. But, sure, let’s add a Yokai-murdering serial killer to the list. No pressure, right? And just to make things even more dicey, the evidence is pointing to the killer being a Bureau of Souls agent. Look, I don’t care where the clues lead me. I’ll find whoever’s responsible, even if it’s a co-worker. Correction: especially if it’s a co-worker. But I need to move fast. The deeper I dig into this case, the more it feels like someone is out to frame me as the rogue agent.
