1. Chosen
Mariah Carpenter must keep her unusual psychic abilities hidden or be labeled a freak. In despair, she swallows sleeping pills. 20 minutes later she thinks she’s hallucinating; she sees a man step out of a hole in space and injects her with a substance. He shares the power of his soul in a Joining.
She refers to this as the Visitation. She doesn’t know the substance and the Joining causes her psychic aptitude to increase. Frightened and confused, she seeks out Michael, a minister, and tells him about the Visitation. He believes she’s been chosen by God and encourages her to join his church and choir. Her heart rate increases and she sweats when seeing a child on tv who’s been abducted. She calls Michael and they complete a Joining. Mariah notifies the police who call the FBI and Amanda is found. With every subsequent Finding, her body experiences a change, like a chronic pain gone. The FBI has the 4th Finding filmed. The film is stolen and sold to a network broadcaster. She’s moved to a safe house to avoid mobs of people harassing her.
In a nightmare she sees a married couple being killed by a clown. He’s Gregory Sinclair who became deranged when his children died during a burglary while spending the night at a friend’s house. The police can’t convince him that the Cooleys, parents of the friend, were also murdered—he believes they’re the murderers. He joins a circus so he can hunt down the Cooleys, believing he sees them in every city the circus visits. He hunts them down and kills them with ricin powder.
2. Prophecy
Thousands of years ago, Anorasian geneticists stumble across the Sol star system and discover something shocking on the third planet from the sun. It’s called Eocene dicit’ledoni, the same entity bio-engineered on their home world millions of light years away. Why would their government, the Min’yel’os, produce dicit if it can be naturally grown? They create a forbidden lab to study the entity.
Mariah leaves the CIA house and journeys to Ethiopia where she meets the high priest of Judah. He gives her a 12-sided figure from within the Ark of the Covenant. When she leaves, she flies over the Red Sea and has a horrible nightmare in which she sees an alien dying while two objects are hurled into space. One is this 12-sided figure; the other is the key to opening it. Gabriel Winters contacts a Saudi Arabian CIA agent who retrieves this key buried in the Black Stone in the Kaaba in Mecca. When Mariah psychically joins them, the two Anorasians appear. She astrally projects them to Earth 65 million years in the past. An Anorasian appears; he’s the same one who died in her dream. He knows she is the Chosen because no other being could have united the two objects.
Mariah needs more power to fight the Min’yel’os so heads to the geneticists’ lab. The dicit engulfs her, making more physical changes. She then draws power from lightning bolts at the bottom of the chasm. She travels to the Sho’revra, the Min’yel’os’ lair. War cruisers shoot laser beams at her but her new body sheath diffuses the energy. She blasts energy back to destroy a Cruiser and blows one up. She almost dies trying to get through the shield around the Sho’revra; however, she survives and finds ten towers insider which are the Min’yel’os. They try to probe her mind and hit her with a super-heated blast. She’s hurt, but manages to destroy several towers while drawing their power into herself. The Min’yel’os call for a cease fire. They believe she is the Chosen and explain that they kept the Anorasian’s from a natural genetic growth because the prophecy says a great psychic will destroy the galaxy. They maintain and control their population to eliminate the threat. Mariah tells them she thinks the prophecy refers to them as the great evil that needs to be eradicated. Furious, they hit her with everything they have; just when she thinks they’ll win, power builds in her. Too late, the Min’yel’os realize their mistake. They try to disconnect but Mariah is now sucking them dry of energy. When the first tower is destroyed, it activates a reanimation drug and a figure steps out. Mariah causes the rest of the towers to fail and all the Min’yel’os are revealed. She can now devote her energy to that frightening SOS.
