Selected For Hucow Service (#1)
Welcome to the Dome.
Wars decimated earth decades ago…
Many people died. Its been seventy years and the air remains unsafe to breath, filled with radioactive chemicals from the old wars. Most of the animals and plant life died long ago and the remaining population was forced to live under the domes. Fertility rates dropped due to the poisons our ancestors ingested before the domes were created making humans almost extinct. Most of the population became sterile. Only a small percentage are able to produce children.
The domes kept us safe, the air filtered and breathable, but the people were under strict rule. In order for the domes to function properly and for our species survival, a system was put into place.
There are five factions that the population is divided into. Those five factions make the dome run smoothly, and once you are placed into that faction you never leave.
Those factions are:
Military- Includes guard duty, law inforcment. Sterile
Gen. Pop.- Most of the people fall under this faction. Shop keepers, transportation, supply distribution, etc. Sterile
Scientists- Includes doctors, medical staff, and researchers. Sterile
Farm Worker- Two types: Growing produce from seed created by the scientists in greenhouses, or caring for the Hucows, and harvesting their milk for distribution. Sterile.
Hucow Service or Hubull Service- Fertile and expected to keep the population growing. Hucows also provide rich milk that is no longer available since most of the animals are extinct.
There is a testing cermony at the end of school training and all young adults who are ready to become a member of the five factions are tested.
Mira is just finishing school and she has aced all her classes. She’s smart and knows it, and she’s not afraid to rub it in the other students faces. Some of the class is destined for the Hucow Farms, but not Mira. There’s only one faction she wants to be in and is confident that she’s going to be a Scientist.
She won’t accept anything else.
What will the testing reveal? We’ll she become a scientist or will she get the shock of her life?
Hucow In Service (#2)
Mira is facing her worst nightmare. Her dreams of becoming a scientist are shattered. She has gone through the hucow processing and is now facing her new life.
Everything they were told about being selected for Hucow Service was a lie. She’s been stripped of her belongs, her name and, her humanity.
She is just a hucow now. Livestock.
The collar around her neck may never come off, but Mira won’t give in so easy.
She meets the farmers that run the dairy, and it’s soon time for milking. She’ll come face to face with her high school bully, and it only gets worse from there.
The only thing that brings her comfort is her new friendship with Conner. With is grow into something more and she will find some happiness or fade under the pressure of their new existance?
The elders lied about the horrid conditions under the hucow dome. What else are they lying about? If there is a way to escape Mira will take it because dying outside the dome might be preferable to living the life of a hucow.
Escaping Hucow Service (#3)
Mira is scared to death. She’s on her way to the breeding shed. Who are the three bulls they have choosen for her and will Conner be one of the bulls?
She’s been praying Mason would find a way to free her like he promised, but time is running out and she knows once she’s bred all hope will be lost. She’ll be stuck here forever.
An opportunity for escape presents itself at the last moment and Mason, Mira and Conner find themselves in the hands of the rebels.
They now have to navigate this new reality. Life outside the dome.
Mira has to heal from the trauma from her time on the farm as a hucow, but she doesn’t have to do it alone. Conner stays by her side, and their bond grows, but Mason refuses to be left out. She gets to know the real Mason. The one that makes her heart beat faster, and makes her laugh when times are tough.
The leader of the rebels, Gabriel is a handsome dark-haired rugged man and Mira can’t help but feel an attraction to him. It must be the drugs still lingering in her system causing her to be attracted to three men because it’s not normal, but she can’t deny her feelings.
Gage shows them the truth. Everything they were taught growing up was lie. The domes are just a way to control the masses and Mira is angry.
War is on it’s way, and Mira and her men will be ready.
