Overview: I hadn’t realized how dark it is at 5:30 a.m. until this morning. It was my first day of work at Smith, Kline Dodson and Roarke a well established and extremely well connected law firm in Northeast San Antonio. On my first interview with the Director of Personnel, I was informed that the firm prided itself on it’s Christian, pro-life, politically motivated focus and I was expected to conform to the tenants of the charter should I wish to be hired. Needing to become employed on a full time basis after my recent divorce, I determined it was not the time to share every one of my inner secrets. I had no doubt in my mind that I could function very well in the company environment without compromising either mine or their individual beliefs. Oh, by the way, I felt it was inappropriate on the first interview to share with the Director of Personnel that I was a lesbian and had been for as long as I could remember.
