Requirements: ePUB, PDF & CBR readers, 29.4 MB
Overview:Leigh Brackett: (1915-1978) US scriptwriter and author, for most of her career deeply involved in the writing of fantasy and sf, for which she perhaps remains best known, though her detective novels and her 16 film and television scenarios have been justly praised. Her film work includes screenplays for The Big Sleep (1946), Rio Bravo (1958), and that draft scenario for Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (1980), for which she posthumously received a 1981 Hugo.
The biography Leigh Brackett: American Science Fiction Writer, by John L. Carr, is a 68 page chapbook published in 1986. It was intended as an introduction to a book that he intended to write, about Leigh Brackett and Edmond Hamilton, that seems to have been abandoned. A couple of years ago, a scan of the original typescript of Carr’s 1988 Ohio State University PhD dissertation on Leigh Brackett was found on line. Four pages were missing, but fortunately they existed in the original chapbook. Here you’ll find a CBR of the original chapbook, plus a PDF and EPUB of the complete dissertation.
