Overview: In society, laws are a system of rules that we follow to keep us all in alignment with the goals of society. We have rules about where we can and cannot drive, where we can and cannot cross the road, how we may treat one another, and how we may behave in general. Rules serve two purposes: to keep us all interacting peacefully and successfully, and to give us an idea of what we can expect when residing in our society. So, if laws give us an idea of what we can expect, and they reside in individual societies, then wouldn’t it make sense that the entire universe would operate as an individual society on some level? And, if it does, then the laws that apply to the universe would be not simply suggestions or fancy ideas, but rather something we can expect and rely on?
