9. Old Flames – When a family friend is murdered, it falls to Rowen Greensmith to crack the case. The whole family is upset, and why shouldn’t they be? In Lainswich, a friend of the Greensmiths is a rare thing indeed. They like to keep as many of those in the land of the living as possible.
On the other hand, they have plenty of enemies. They could certainly do with one less of those when a Stonewell shows up in town. The Stonewells have always been the natural enemies of the Greensmiths. They’re another family of witches, one that moved away from Lainswich quite some time ago. So what are they doing back now?
Worse than that, Flint Stonewell is an old flame of Rowen’s. Surely he’s only here to make her life more complicated. It’s like he can just sense the fact that she and her husband have been bickering over the most minor things lately. Now she has to worry about mending her relationship on top of solving a murder. And that’s only if she can keep the rest of her family from killing Flint first.
Rowen will count herself lucky if she makes it to the other side of this one. Solve a murder, try to right a family feud that goes back generations, repair her marriage, and oh yeah, find the guardian spirits that have decided to up and abandon her family at, perhaps, the worst possible time. Work is just never done when you’re a Greensmith witch.
10. A War Between Witches – Things are going well for Rowen. The weather is nice; her family is happy; there haven’t been any murders for a while. All in all, things are good… which can only mean that they’re about to go horribly wrong. If it’s not family issues, it’s something worse. This time it’s both, and that something worse is a death that hits close to home.
11. An Artistic Homicide – Rowen Greensmith loves her family. As much as they may get on each other’s nerves, she prides herself on how close they are. But familial closeness has its limits. There are things even family members keep from one another. Like Peony’s apparent talent for painting. Who knew she was capable of something like that? Not Rowen!
When Peony’s art is accepted into a local art show, everyone is thrilled. It’s high time some recognition came Peony’s way. The art world may be fickle and snooty, but Peony has been handling herself wonderfully. Rowen and the rest of the family couldn’t be prouder. At least, that would have been the case had a murder not occurred on opening night.
Now Rowen is in a race to find the murderer before suspicions turn to her and her family. Worse than that, she’s forced to face an unsettling truth she’s never quite gotten used to. She might not know her family as well as she thinks she does. Did Peony have a hand in this murder? Surely not! Rowen sets out to solve it regardless. Hopefully, she won’t be horrified with what she finds.
12. Waterside Witchery – It’s a lovely day beachside. Rowen and company are enjoying the sun and each other. Despite a pesky curse that prohibits the Greensmiths from venturing too deep into any body of water, it’s really shaping out to be a nice afternoon! …Or at least it was until Rowen stumbles upon the charred body of a man hidden away in the trunk of a submerged car.
Rowen and her husband Eric are tasked by local police to look into the matter. Their investigation leads them to Lichen Hallow, a small community in their little town of Lainswich.
Lichen Hallow isn’t particularly welcoming to outsiders. Worse than that, they’re especially distrustful of witches in particular. Rowen and Eric will have to tread lightly, attempting to conceal their own identities in the process.
To make matters worse, Rowen’s aunts, Lydia and Nadine, have new beaus on the brain. Their relationships are moving much too fast for comfort. Will Rowen be able to juggle family drama and a murder case that’s quickly becoming dangerous? Probably not, but she’s got to try.
13. Marriages and Murders – It’s a hectic time to be a Greensmith. Rowen’s aunt Nadine is getting married! And it’s not just Nadine. Her cousin Rose is getting married too— on the very same day, no less. Great, right? Well… sort of. Now that things are set in stone, everyone is beginning to have their doubts.
To complicate matters further, Rowen can feel another murder on the horizon. She can sense it. Trouble is coming, and it’s coming soon. She doesn’t have to wait long. When an old woman is found dead in her own home, it’s easy to just assume it’s the death Rowen predicted. Rowen, though? She has her doubts.
Trouble is still on the way. Rowen needs to remain vigilant. It’s not just a murder she needs to be on the lookout for either. With two Greensmith weddings coming up, the drama just won’t end.
14. Just Your Average Small Town Cult – Lainswich has its tricentennial coming up soon. That’s three-hundred years of existence for the insular, idyllic little town. It’s got the whole town busy, including Rowen’s family. Her aunts are turning their little New Age shop into a museum of sorts for the occasion. Her cousins are busy with the family newspaper. There’s no shortage of things to do and precious little time to spare… Which, of course means something extremely time consuming is about to happen.
When local dentist Edward Waite is found murdered, the police immediately seek help from Rowen. The deceased was shot execution style and, not only that, the crime scene makes it look like a sinister ritual has taken place. It’s only a matter of time before Lainswich starts to suspect their resident witching family, the Greensmiths.
Rowen wants no part in the investigation, but she might not have a choice. Trouble has a way of finding her. This time, trouble has taken the form of what appears to be a super creepy cult. Rowen has never had to deal with a cult before, but there’s a first time for everything.
