1. This City of Lies – A case with more twists than San Francisco’s notorious hills.
It’s 1959 and the city by the bay is on the verge of transformation. It’s the perfect spot for private investigator Kerrigan, a former boxer and World War II captain, to embrace his resourcefulness and hardened view of humanity. Kerrigan is very good at discreet investigations—selling his time, expertise, and silence. The maverick lives by one truth: War is cruel and disturbing yet the civilian world is less honest.
When a self-made millionaire hires him to keep tabs on Stephanie Worland, his stunning, much younger wife, Kerrigan assumes it’s the age-old tale of suspicion, greed, and adultery. And her gold Mercedes is easy to track.
Until she ditches it for a waiting cab.
The now curious assignment takes him from residential mansions to a cigar smoke-hazy cabaret downtown to the dodgier parts of the Wharf. Instead of the anticipated lover, Kerrigan finds only more questions.
Soon he’s being followed. His phone is tapped. And someone wants him dead.
To his surprise, an alarmed Stephanie arrives at his office door, hoping to hire him. A mystery man is following her. But who? Are random violent murders connected? And most importantly, in a city of liars, who—the paying client, the inscrutable femme fatale, the potentially corrupt authorities—can you trust?
Because the wrong answer will get you killed.

2. The Governor’s Man – The past is never fully buried.
1959’s Veterans Reunion is the perfect excuse for San Francisco private investigator Kerrigan to escape the tedious deskwork of his latest case. There’s even a surprise honorary guest—the governor of California who announces an ambitious Fund to benefit the brave soldiers.
One month later, Kerrigan receives a call from the governor’s chief of staff about a highly sensitive missing person situation. An intern has disappeared from the governor’s mansion . . . along with the entire raised Fund.
But what’s most shocking is that Kerrigan knows the guy. . . .
Iwo Jima, March 1945. Private Norling’s breakdown unwittingly saved Kerrigan’s life when artillery exploded the packed convoy he’d just exited. Later, as the lone witness at the court-martial hearing, Kerrigan decided to give Norling the benefit of the doubt, granting the young man a future. And he seemingly took it to become a frugal, honest lawyer and the governor’s bright and altruistic intern.
Or is he a con artist and a thief?
The more Kerrigan looks into Norling’s background, it doesn’t add up. Yet the evidence is damning. Does Norling’s neck need saving once again? The repercussions of that fateful night in 1945 continue to ripple through many lives.
And someone will commit murder to hide the truth. . . .

3. By Sword and Feather – The past is back to collect a bloody toll.
In 1946, Marine Corps Captain Kerrigan is serving in Burma with Military Intelligence. A unit tasked with locating Japanese resistance groups goes missing in the dense forest. Kerrigan’s recovery mission comes upon an abandoned mining village . . . and the horrifying, charred remains of the US soldiers by the hands of Colonel Fujo, a notorious war criminal nicknamed The Decapitator. Known to cut a person diagonally from shoulder to hip, push a feather down their throat, and finish with beheading, the only consolation is Fujo’s own corpse by ritual suicide.
Fourteen years later, the past resurfaces in San Francisco when now P.I. Kerrigan receives word from the warden of the state’s most disreputable prison that a former private from his unit requests a deathbed visit. While juggling his current case of protecting a touring Russian prima ballerina from a stalker fan, Kerrigan visits the isolated, high-security facility just in time to receive a cryptic message before the inmate succumbs to injuries that echo some unique trademarks of a certain Colonel Fujo.
When a second member of his former unit is viciously killed in an all-too-familiar signature style, Kerrigan must unravel the larger truth of that ill-fated mission before he’s next to be seemingly visited by Fujo’s vengeful ghost. Kerrigan knows that Fujo is dead but someone is delivering a bloodthirsty message, and time is growing short to determine who and why now before the sword and feather strike home….
