The Luxor Curse
“I adore Egyptology and so the author’s vivid writing and scenery spoke to me. Kate’s character was phenomenal, her character was hilarious and snarky. I loved it!” ABNA
It was on that fateful day at the British Museum with her guardian, Agnes Westbrook, that Kathryn – Kate to her friends – first became aware of Pharaoh Nakhtifi. This is a pharaoh who does not exist according to the academics, yet at this very moment, was the sole reason why Kate was about to encounter 3000 year old soldiers at the bottom of an ancient Egyptian tomb in Luxor. Soldiers that have been sent with a single aim – to kill her. This was a cause of real concern for Kate, as people usually had to know her for slightly more than two weeks, before they felt this angry.
This is definitely is not something that any thirteen year old could expect to encounter, not when on a two week holiday in Egypt, but then after all, this is Kathryn Black.
Join Kate, Alex and their Egyptian friend Cairo, as they visit tombs and temples, and experience fear, friendship and humour in equal parts.
Death in Luxor
Death in Luxor is a page turning modern-day adventure set in an Egypt full of ancients. Having survived an attack by three-thousand-year-old soldiers by the narrowest of margins, Kathryn – Kate to her friends – enters the second week of her holiday in Luxor, only this is no holiday. Armed with the knowledge that the unknown Pharaoh Nakhtifi not only existed – he exists, and he is the most important member of her ancient family, this is now a battle for her life and his afterlife.
Luxor Lost and Found
Casting magic can be quite straightforward, whilst finding the ingredients needed for an ancient spell is anything but! Pharaoh Nakhtifi’s place in the afterlife is secure, thanks to Kate, Alex and Cairo. Their success has thwarted the plans of the most powerful, most power-crazed warlock ancient Egypt has ever known. Now that he is directing all his anger at them, there is only one option: remove him from the afterlife, before he can remove them from this life … Magic must be fought with magic.
Gold of the Ancients
What is it with ancients? So many are really difficult to live with, yet – for the famous names at least – they are impossible to be rid of. Why, after just over a year of calm is all hell about to break lose? Alex, Kate’s closest friend, has spent the last year studying at the British Museum to be better prepared for times like this. Just one major problem – nothing could ever prepare anyone for times like this. Rather than being more prepared Alex feels that his senses have been dimmed, because nothing interesting has occurred since their confrontation with the warlock, nothing at all; not until today!
Ankhtifi’s Papyrus
Kate, much to the irritation of Alex, entered the library of their Luxor home with extreme attitude. A home which was specially built for them in the Theban hills, where it commands the most perfect view over Queen Hatshepsut’s temple. Protecting them is their ancient family, the head of which is Ramses II. Helios, an ancient Greek from the time of Cleopatra, directly guards access to their home. This level of security ensures that they are safe from ancients. Alex, who had, until a few moments ago, been peacefully reading the ancients own newspaper, The ADD – The Ancient Deity Digest – knew that he was safe from everybody … except Kate!
