JLA: Destiny by John Arcudi – C –
Requirements: CBR reader, 11-27 Mb
Overview: What if Superman and Batman never existed?
What this book does correctly is restore the reptuation of a villain who failed to live up to his pre-Crisis nastiness and effectiveness. Arcudi but largely the hyperkinetic design by Tom Mandrake makes him violent, threatening and worthy of the entire JLA’s attention. Unfortunately, the JLA are out fishing. The roster of JLA: Destiny only includes two recognizable stars. The Flash is portrayed reasonably well. You still would not wish to read a series starring this version of the speedster. On the other hand, this Elseworld features one of the best incarnations of Wonder Woman next to the animated version. Both share much in common. Both are no-nonsense heroes who tend to kick the asses of any villain who crosses their paths. Both are intelligent. Both look good. Both work well in groups, and neither is involved with a black lesbian sissy sporting a beard and mustache
