Jesse Yates/Palm Court Detectives series by David Reichart (Books #1-2)
Requirements: ePUB Reader, 410 kB | 338 kB
Overview: By the time Dave Reichart started thinking about applying his formal literary training, he had forgotten most of it, and life had begun to establish customary roadblocks. Still, being a soldier, newspaper reporter, insurance agent, truck driver, copywriter, etc., etc., etc., populated his world with plenty of characters and situations to lean on in his fiction writing, if he ever got around to it. He finally did, and he’s doing his best to make up for lost time and faded diplomas, relying mostly on natural gifts and a loyal muse.
Dave Reichart was born in Wisconsin, grew up a Hoosier and now lives with his wife, Carol, in her hometown, Mobile, Alabama, where he complains of the heat in summer and lack of snow in winter but finds the city fascinating and the Gulf Coast region the perfect setting for his crime-thriller novels.
Genre: Thriller

Death’s Door (Jesse Yates/Palm Court Detectives Book 1)
What Jesse Yates wants more than anything is to fit into society and have people think of him as a regular guy. But he’s not a regular guy. He’s an elite warrior, battle tested to the max in Iraq and Afghanistan, first in Marine Special Ops and later as a Navy SEAL. When he finally decides to walk away from the military, Yates isn’t planning on making further use of his extreme training and lethal skills. But somebody else is.
Palm Court Detectives, a skyrocketing new agency run by a laicized Jesuit priest in a refashioned vintage motel, needs a guy exactly like Yates to add clout to its roster. His first assignment for the detective agency based in Mobile, Alabama, takes Yates under cover at a trucking company that has been targeted by hijackers. Jesse’s civilian naiveté allows him to be drawn quickly into a turf war between hijackers who he likes, outlaw bikers who like him (or what he can do for them), and a drug cartel renegade who has a severe Jesse Yates problem and a chilling plot in the works.
Joining the eclectic, fun-loving team at Palm Court Detectives as a private investigator in training turns out to be everything Yates had hoped for and more—more excitement, more camaraderie, and more chances to die.

Swamp Blood (Jesse Yates/Palm Court Detectives Book 2)
After a Jesse Yates “Terror in the Tunnel” news video goes viral (Death’s Door), the Palm Court Detectives are hired to take on a brutal organized crime family that has gained control of a small Alabama town.
Too bad the agents from Mobile aren’t familiar with the local lore; Rome City is no ordinary town. Many of its inhabitants carry malevolent genes of an inbred clan of swamp dwellers who began to merge with local society only three generations ago.
Ancil Gagnon considers himself the last of the breed and still lives in a remote swamp in the vast Mobile-Tensaw Delta wilderness. He only comes out when his domesticated kin—the ones who have formed Le Sang (The Blood)—need to have “problems” disappear or learn a lesson they’ll never forget.
In addition to taking on a case that is far more bewildering than he expected, agency boss Ernie Donovan has gotten his people involved in a timeworn vendetta that could cost the Palm Court crew their lives. With one of his agents in a hospital intensive care unit and another marked for execution, the laicized Jesuit priest turns to Yates, a former Navy SEAL who has the skills and experience to handle just about anything, if given a fighting chance.
Unfortunately, the menacing forces he faces in Rome City don’t come out and fight the way they did in Iraq and Afghanistan. It’s going to take more than Jesse Yates to save the lives of every Palm Court employee who lives in the refashioned vintage motel which they affectionately call world headquarters and mistakenly consider safe and secure.
