JAG Lawyer Series by Dave Daren (1-2)
Requirements: epub, mobi, azw3 reader, 1.5 mb
Overview: I enjoy reading legal thrillers, but found the lack of sound legal practices and entertaining writing discouraging. Most cases never go to trial and the steps to reaching a settlement are often too boring for a fictional novel. I’ll try to keep the legal steps in my novels as close to "real" as is possible while also making the stories fun and pulpy.
Genre: Mystery/Thriller
#1 – Lt. Will Warner may be a JAG lawyer, but he’s still a soldier and won’t back down from a fight– in the courtroom or out of it– if he’s in the right.
When he gets the case of a lifetime: the court martial of a soldier accused of war crime in Afghanistan, the type of case usually reserved for far more senior lawyers, he is elated but quickly begins to smell a rat.
Suspecting his client is innocent and being framed, he has to deal with a stonewall by the military, the official documentation, and its witnesses. Despite that, he finds evidence of a deadly cover up.
And when the perpetrators prove willing to kill to hide their tracks, Will begins to understand why they selected such a junior attorney for this case…
#2 – Lt. Will Warner was set up to fail, but managed to find justice for his client through sheer grit. Now he finds himself exiled to a sleepy Army base in the northwest handling petty cases as payback for upsetting the establishment.
But Will’s enemies in high places didn’t account for him landing a case that would bring him right back into the spotlight: a simple assault and battery case that turns into murder, which then turns into a major espionage case.
Will is back in the spotlight, but that also means he is back in the crosshairs.
