Overview: In the mystical land of Qiyun, where ancient gods once walked among mortals and legendary warriors shaped the fate of empires, a new era of darkness was dawning.
The air was thick with ash and the scent of fear as Emperor Shen, resplendent in his obsidian armor, stood atop the steps of the Imperial Palace. Below him, the once-proud capital of Qiyun burned, its people cowering in the streets. The last of the old emperor’s loyal guards lay broken at Shen’s feet, their blood staining the white jade steps a deep crimson.
Shen’s voice, as cold and sharp as a winter wind, cut through the air. “People of Qiyun, bear witness to the birth of a new age! The old ways have failed you, but I shall forge this land anew in fire and iron!”
As the crowd trembled before him, a hooded figure at the edge of the square watched silently. Master Zhang, the last of the great shamans, felt a chill run down his spine that had nothing to do with the autumn air. In his mind’s eye, he saw a vision of flame—not the destructive inferno that now engulfed the city, but a cooler fire, green as jade and bright as hope.
The shaman’s lips moved in a silent prayer. “Great spirits, hear me. The time of the prophecy is at hand. The Jade Phoenix must rise, or all shall fall to darkness…”
