Genre: Mystery Thriller
Unturned Stones (#1) "Greys, MIB, & government agencies seeking to protect their cover-up, vs. one stone-cold killer ex-cop!"
What secrets did the UFO investigator take with him when he died on the Silver Bridge collapse in December of 1967? Thirty years later, is it already too late for the world to discover?
Jack Barrett is living the good life. Finally making enough from his detective novels to retire from his job as a homicide detective at the Columbus Police Department, he now lives in a lakefront cabin at Indian Lake. His neighbor is a beautiful former FBI agent now running the Wolf Island Inn, and their relationship is progressing nicely. Then he is invited to meet the beautiful Cassie, a singer/songwriter he’s been a fan of for years when she comes to Ohio for a concert. So life just keeps getting better! That is, until a widow in his writers group gives him an old, unfinished manuscript her husband left her when he was killed in the Silver Bridge Collapse 30 years earlier. And a box of interview tapes. The content of which will threaten Jack and all he cares about with their very lives.
It seems the newly elected young President and his wife have a secret, and Jack is warned to leave it alone. But they don’t know Jack, as it turns out, is a stone cold killer himself…
Uncommon Enemies (#2) Almost two years after the events of "Unturned Stones" Jack Barrett is approached by his old boss at the Columbus Homicide Department to leave his ideal life at Indian Lake and come back to help catch the Co-Ed Killer. Jack reluctantly agrees to look at the case, and soon becomes involved in two other national cases.
The first involves a hit man Jack knows all too well, Fatboy Malloy, who seems to be traveling the country eliminating suspected serial killers. Fatboy is on assignment from a mobster whose daughter and new son-in-law were the victims of a serial killer while on their honeymoon in Pennsylvania.
The other case involves someone who is killing off True Crime writers and others who help the police catch serial killers.
Is there a link in the three cases? Jack has to find out, but in doing so he must become involved again with characters from his past he’d sooner kill than work with.
Unkept Promises (#3) A hit man seeking the promise of a safe place to retire. A disgraced cop people say didn’t keep her promise to serve and protect when they needed her most. A rich young senator assassinated years before, leaving people to wonder about his many promises which would not be kept. A beautiful Russian bride whose promise of a happy life in America wasn’t kept by her abusive, dirty sheriff of a husband. Families smuggled across the border to the promise of a better life, only to have their wives, mothers and daughters sold into the sex trade.
Four years after the events of "Uncommon Enemies" Jack Barrett is himself dealing with the unkept promise of a long, happy life with his new bride. All of these converge on his Wolf Island Inn at Indian Lake, Ohio. Jack is determined to keep his promise to save and protect them all.
