Overview: It took some time, but my handpicked crew and I were chosen to do something that began to feel as if it were next to impossible. Working for months on the moon was far more daunting that anyone had ever anticipated. Working conditions were perilous. One wrong move or failure to follow established protocol would mean instant death. This wasn’t like working underwater. There, you always knew a fresh supply of oxygen was waiting once you reached the surface. But on the lunar surface, oxygen didn’t exist—except in the form that our spacesuits and crowded crew module could provide. What began as an adventure soon began to feel isolating and even prison-like. It took a toll on your mind. And the idea of having a needed break free from the intolerable conditions wasn’t going to happen until this lunar resort for the elite, wealthy, and powerful was completed. All of that would have been tolerable had things been different and if this wasn’t a privately funded enterprise. But it was. Mismanagement and needless oversight simply caused things to go from bad to far worse—even to the point that I had to risk my life to save the lives of my crew.
