HORACE: An Irish Tale by James Wilson
Requirements: .ePUB, .MOBI/.AZW reader, 188 KB
Overview: Looking back, I think of my father as “old school”. Not that he was backward in any way, just that he was comfortably old in his style, words and habits.
Born in Ireland in 1918 before the Irish border was formally in place, he always thought of himself as a true Irish man. He was raised at a time very different from today and when he spoke to me of his childhood it was hard to believe in a few decades society and culture had changed so dramatically. He had sayings and memories which were quite surprising and at times downright funny, while at other times tales of his youth were more akin to unrecorded history. Being Irish he had the gift of eloquence and I often found it difficult to distinguish truth from fiction, since even the truth was at times unbelievable. Though, above all things my father was an honest man and I believe his memories were largely truthful in his eyes. But to avoid any confusion we will call this tale, a semi-fictional biography. However, should you choose to research elements of his story I am sure you will be very surprised by the amount of fact within.
I dedicated this book to the wonderful memories of my father. It details his early life and it’s his story. The times he lived through and the childhood he experienced; we will never see their like again, now sadly assigned to history and lost in time.
