Overview: Andrew Gallagher was a troubled man who kept to himself, rarely ventured out, and hoarded all and any type of books. One morning he is found dead, murdered in his home. His house is a fireman’s nightmare with its rooms crammed full of books, magazines and years’ worth of junk mail.
Detectives Logan and Florek were unable to come up with a motive for Andrew’s murder, until they find a cryptic letter that was left on his computer. Andrew alludes to taking part in a series of break and enter robberies, one of which resulted in a homicide. The detectives finally have a lead, and they have a suspect, for it appears Andrew had not acted alone.
Hired to clean out the house, Hannah starts by sorting through the books. and is shocked when she discovers a diamond tennis bracelet hidden in the spine of a book. When a second piece of stolen jewellery is found, the meaning of Andrew’s letter becomes clear.
For Detective Logan and Hannah; the attraction is immediate, but a murder investigation is not the time or place to start a romance. Logan is a by-the-book kind of cop, and Hannah is the type who is led by her feelings.
Can these two come to an understanding, or will closing the case also close any chance they have for happiness?
