Harriet Honeywell Mystery Series by Kate Harper (Books 1-3)

Overview: Like most writers I’ve always read and I’ve always got something going on in my head, story-wise. Mostly dialogue – at least, I hope that’s dialogue and not something more serious – which inevitably makes demands on me.
On a more personal note, I live with my partner (no breeches), my kids and a hoard of animals that shed fur into my coffee on a regular basis. We live in a particularly beautiful part of Victoria, in Australia and feel pretty lucky to do so.
Genre: Mystery
Book 1 – Lord Scoundrel Dies
When Harriet Honeywood agrees to retrieve a stolen family heirloom she does not anticipate that she will discover the body of Lord Sutton. The man was a scoundrel who made a business out of blackmail and Harry is determined to return everything he stole. But her good intentions may make her the second victim – can the delectable Viscount Talisker keep her safe or is she, too, destined to die?
Book 2 – Why Kill A Countess?
Harriet Honeywood anticipates a delightful stay in the country when she and her soon-to-be-husband Aubrey, Viscount Talisker are invited down to Bellincourt, the country estate of the Dowager Countess, Lady Gracedale. But instead of tranquility and the opportunity to steal some time with her beloved, Harry finds the atmosphere of the house to be singularly tense. Nobody seems to like each other in the least and grudges, both old and new are quick to surface. It is all most uncomfortable – especially for the luckless Mr. Charles Lampforth who has been lured down with the promise of an agreeable few days in the country – and discomfort turns to alarm when the Dowager Countess turns up dead. Will Harry, Aubrey and Charlie be able to unmask a brutal killer before they disappear back into Society? Or will the malice that walks in beautiful Bellincourt reach out to take even more lives?
Book 3 – Earl, Interrupted
Having married her viscount, Harry finds herself enjoying the splendors of Europe as her new husband whisks her away for a romantic sojourn abroad. Considering the peculiar nature of their meeting and courtship – one that was filled with more bodies than balls – Harry is anticipating an enjoyable, trouble free interlude with Aubrey. But things are not all they should be when they arrive in Venice. Their fellow guests of the Baglioni Hotel Luna are a peculiar lot. There are unaccountable tensions swirling in the air, much of which centers the enigmatic Lord Abercorn, an unpopular earl who has made more than one enemy. Harry tries to convince herself that it is all puff and bluster; what could possibly go wrong in such an idyllic setting? But then their friend Charles Lampforth turns up most unexpectedly, closely followed by the body of Lord Abercorn and she realizes that, once again, she has fallen into a nasty tangle. Can they discover the identity of another killer? And, more importantly, will poor Charlie finally meet his romantic match in beautiful, mysterious Venice?
