In a world a million miles apart from the serenity of nature, there’s another kind of wildlife that isn’t so innocent. A Dallas oil tycoon who makes JR Ewing look like a boy scout, seems to still burn a flame for his fifth ex-wife. Unfortunately, his Independence Day mega-celebration ends with fireworks and his murder.

Agatha Harley and Hank Davidson were looking forward to spending time focusing on their budding romance. Instead, a series of cryptic messages from their friend, Sheriff Reggie Coil, launches them toward the southern Texas city of Laredo at the Mexican border.
Sheriff Coil, who once worked as an undercover drug task force special agent in Austin, owed his life to fellow law enforcement officer, Texas Ranger Sergeant Jason Whitehorse. The heroic American-Indian officer fought off an outlaw motorcycle club’s ambush against Coil to escape with non-life threatening injuries.
Many years had passed, and while each man’s careers had taken different paths, their bond remained strong. Agatha and Hank soon discover that Coil needed their help because he’d rushed to Whitehorse’s rescue. Forces beyond Whitehorse’s control forced him back into his deep undercover role as a drug and gun runner. It was a covert operation that depended on him working with his old partner, Reggie Coil.
Agatha and Hank are out gunned, out equipped and definitely out of their element, but loyalty and friendship means never having to ask for help a second time. It’s off to the border they go. But, can enthusiasm and a willingness to help their friends overcome the ruthless bandits they’ll face?
Here’s a hint: Agatha has a bit of a tenacious streak of determined ruthlessness when it comes to fighting for the underdog. After all, it’s one of the qualities Hank loves most about her.

Let sleeping dogs lie. If only that were the case throughout Bell County, Texas, things would’ve returned to the serenity that once defined it. A quiet, and peaceful place was what Hank Davidson wanted as his retirement home. After a high-risk, violent career as an FBI-trained serial killer detective, crime was the last thing Hank wanted. He also had no intention to fall in love, but crime also played a part in that, or at least solving crime did.
The Lone Star Rattlers outlaw motorcycle club have been around for hundreds of years. They began as a militia to protect the sovereignty of the Independent Republic of Texas. Over the generations, they devolved into a vicious group of treasure-seeking bandits determined to recover billions in secreted bullion and confederate treasures once horded in hopes of financing another war to reclaim it’s freedom from the United States of America.
Bell County’s numerous historic cemeteries were once revered for honoring the heroic sacrifices of it’s citizens and soldiers. The recent rash of grave robbing has led Agatha Harley to suspect something more sinister is afoot. She must convince a very skeptical Sheriff Reggie Coil that it’s more than high school vandals.
Enlisting the help of her partner in crime-solving and love, Hank Davidson, would give her the leverage to dig deeper into the series of casket breeches, and help convince Coil that his precious Bell County was once again under attack by his age-old enemies, the Rattlers.
