Overview: GraphiSoft ArchiCAD is a powerful modeling application that allows architects to design buildings more efficiently using Virtual Building technology. ArchiCAD allows architects to focus on the design itself, doing this work alone or in a team, while exchanging data with consultants and specialists in other areas. With ArchiCAD, you will discover the benefits of architectural design in 3D space and enjoy incredible freedom in your work.
In ArchiCAD , you create a Building Information 3D Model, from which all the necessary documents and images are automatically generated. The project takes on life and develops on the screen simultaneously with the work of your thought, allowing you to focus on creativity. Building Information Modeling (BIM) is the most natural and intuitive approach to design, and thanks to the clarity of the 3D design representation, customers will be impressed with your creativity.
• Introduction to the MORF tool. ArchiCAD has a new tool called "MORPH" (MORP) and designed for free modeling.
• Components of the MORP tool. Objects created by the MORP tool consist of three components: a node (vertex), a face, and a surface.
• Creation of polygon object MORP. The first way to construct a MORP object is polygonal. With it, you can build a closed contour – in fact, a MORP-face.
• Creation of polygonal 3D-object MORP. A polygonal object is not tied to one plane in any way – any node can occupy any position in space, thus creating a spatial polygon.
• Creation of rectangular, arc and closed MORP-elements. In general, there are four types of construction of MORP elements: "rectangle" and "rotated rectangle" for creating straight elements, "center and radius" and "points on a curve" for creating curved elements.
• Creation of a 3D box from MORP elements. The construction method Box creates a solid object. The first two points define the base of the box, and the third defines the height.
• Creation of rounded MORP elements. And the third construction method is rounding. It is built in three steps, and first you need to set a profile.
• Selection of subelements. Each MORP-element consists of sub-elements that can be selected for further work. Selecting multiple subelements. In this case, you can select several sub-elements at once.
• Removing MORP subelements. At any time, the selected MORP subelement can be deleted, thus editing the structure of the MORP object.
• Working with faces and surfaces. At the same time, a new geometry can be added to an already existing MORP element – a face, a surface, or a solid object.
• MORP elevation adjustment. Like any other 3D object, a MORP object can be given an elevation – this parameter is called Base Height.
• Display of MORP-elements on the plan. On the floor plan, the MORP element is displayed as a 3D projection – just like complex roofs or shells.
• Adjustment of coatings for MORP-element. In the MORP element parameters dialog, you can set the base material of the coating, which is then applied to all faces of the object.
• Setting up methods for splitting faces for MORP elements. Any face of a MORP element has three construction modes that affect the principles of surface formation and their display.
• Changing the face textures of MORP elements. By default, the texture mapping method for a MORP object is boxed. But the user can set his own overlay method for each face – up to spherical overlay.
• Changing the origin and direction of the MORP element textures. For each face of a MORP element, you can set its own starting point for spreading the texture and its angle of rotation.
• Moving a MORP body node. Any node of a MORP element can be freely moved in space, thus changing the overall structure of the volume and being attached to other nodes, object faces.
ArchiCADsignificantly changes the capabilities of the average user, allowing you to use third-party BIM components in your projects. In conjunction with the "cloud" database, the new modeling capabilities in ArchiCAD allow architects to create, search, upload and download new BIM components for use in their projects. Fully integrated into ArchiCAD, the web portal is a single point of exchange for BIM components between users. BIMcomponents.com also provides a centralized location for all GDL objects, making them available to all ArchiCAD users when they need them. In the construction industry, everything is constantly changing: new materials, designs, ideas and technologies appear every day. We can say that building components is one of the most actively developing areas in the building BIM industry. The GDL technology used in ArchiCAD is a powerful professional tool for creating highly intelligent parametric elements. However, not all users are ready to create their own GDL objects. It is to them that the fundamental changes that have taken place in ArchiCAD are addressed! Now any user can not only model his object in volume, but also put the created BIM component into a single cloud database of objects.
For newly added objects, a unique description is created, according to which other users, using keywords, can instantly find not only this object, but also dozens of similar ones. Then it remains only to select the elements necessary for your BIM project and download them with one click of the mouse. It is unique that all the described operations are carried out within ArchiCAD – the program provides a complete set of tools for creating, searching, loading and unloading objects directly from the Objects dialog! In addition, all laid out BIM objects can be found on the specialized web portal BIMcomponents.com, which provides a self-organizing community of ArchiCAD usersnecessary means: comments, object ratings, updates, etc. Thus, the new technology for loading / unloading BIM components and the new site is a unique centralized resource for exchanging GDL objects!
