Overview: Carol Colbert was born in Detroit, Michigan and attended Southwestern High School. She has degrees in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement and Homeland Security. Although most of the books in the Ghost series are fun and fantasy, she actually did live in a haunted house at one point. Ghost House was the first book and is almost all true. Ghost Cat, Ghost Granny, Gertie’s Choice, Miss Enchanter and I Promised You are stories that came to be from her first Ghost tale. They share characters, but can also be read as stand alones.
Each book in the series has enough background to be enjoyed as a stand alone story, but why miss out on all of the fun?

GHOST HOUSE (Book 1)
Jim Gaunter is transferred back to his home state of Michigan and has set his family up in a little house in Southgate. It isn’t long before his wife Sarah and daughters thirteen year old Riley and five year old Suzanne start to notice that perhaps they are not the only occupants of the house. The neighbors seem unfriendly to Sarah, but she thinks that perhaps its just that she had gotten used to the southern hospitality of their years living in Tennessee. Riley notices strange things happening in the basement, but she does not want to complain since she wanted to set up her bedroom there. She was also turning thirteen soon and does not want to look like a baby who is afraid of the dark. This story is based on a true experience by the author and yes, sometimes things do go bump in the night.
GHOST GRANNY (Book 2)
Catherine and her son Cody did not have it easy. She had a low paying job and hand me down furniture. Catherine decided that she and her son deserved to have a little fun and planned an overnight walkabout trip to get out of their one bedroom apartment and enjoy the time together. You never know when you take an unknown exit what you will find. Catherine and Cody find themselves in the Village of Enchanted when a storm forces their vehicle off of the expressway. They then hear that a water main break has closed Cody’s school for a week and when he wins a free week at the hotel in the pumpkin roll race mother and son decide to stay. With the help of a nice lady they meet named Luna, life is looking up for the duo. Who exactly is Luna and why does she have such a big bubble butt? Where is that blue smoke coming from? Could this be where Catherine and Cody are meant to be?
GHOST CAT (Book 3)
When Jim and Sarah Gaunter hear of the death of Gertie, their elderly former neighbor in Tennessee, they make the trip back from Michigan to attend the funeral. Jim isn’t as anxious to go as Sarah and their two daughters, thirteen year old Riley and six year old Suzanne just like riding in the car. When Gertie’s adopted son tells them that Gertie wanted them to have a rather large, heavy trunk, Jim loads it on top the van and heads for home. The weather is bad and an ice storm is making the I-75 expressway very slippery. When Jim has to make a quick jerk to the right to avoid being smashed by a truck, the trunk falls off of the roof and onto the side of the expressway. They would rather just leave it and continue on their way home, but they realize that someone else could hit it and cause a very big accident. They circle back and retrieve the trunk which has damage and continue home. The next day Sarah hears something coming from the trunk that they had transferred to the garage and forgotten about. Who or what is in that trunk?
MISS ENCHANTER (Book 4)
Ophelia and Thelma make it back to Enchanted! The story picks up here.
Ophelia was sad that her mother had passed in the time she had been away and that she did not have the time to tell her she was sorry for being so rebellious. However, Enchanted is such a beautiful place, and oh that chocolate coffee tastes so good! Ophelia learns her mother’s story from her cousin’s Thelma and Luna and gains full insight and respect for her mother, as well as her true beginnings.
GERTIE’S CHOICE (Book 5)
When Gertie meets the love of her life, a soldier named John Ellis, everything in her world (and other worlds) change for her. This is the story of how Gertie and Luna came to Enchanted and Gertie’s struggle to make her daughter, Ophelia, understand that life is good as a mortal. Ophelia is stubborn and will stop at nothing to get back to Enchanted and the way life was there. Will Ophelia be successful? Or will she be forced to live out her days in feline form after a rebellious act against John’s son causes her life to change yet again? Let me make you a cup of her delicious chocolate coffee and tell you her story. This is the fifth book in the Ghost Series and tells how Luna got her bubble butt.
I PROMISED YOU (Book 6)
This the story of Ophelia, the sister who stayed behind in the 1600s to be with her husband, a mortal named William. See what happens to her and how she is finally reunited with her twin daughters Luna and Thelma whom she gave to her sister Gertie to keep them safe.
This is the final book of the Ghost Series. All of the Ghost series books have enough back story to be enjoyed as stand alones. However, although written with much back story, this final book might be better enjoyed if you read Gertie’s Choice (Book 5) or Miss Enchanter (Book 4) first to fully understand the story of these remarkable women.
