Genre: Science Fiction
1. Born Under a Bad Sign
Good pirates fight. Smart pirates run. The best aim for somewhere in between…
After pulling off the heist of a lifetime, Captain Remy Bechet faces harrowing space battles, mutinous scumbags, and a vengeful nemesis from the past – all while trying to protect the ragtag crew he considers family.
Meanwhile, on the planet Vox, Sheriff Lilly Greyson finds herself juggling formidable black-market dealers, horny deputies, and a worldwide crisis in the making.
2. Call It Stormy Monday
A quiet, peaceful town. Sadly, that’s not how the sheriff would describe the city of Naillik. Not by a long shot…
With the planet’s largest crime lord trying to set up shop in her community, and her own brother inadvertently working with him, Sheriff Lilly Greyson figures her day can’t get any worse. Unfortunately, she’s dead wrong.
Captain Remy Bechet, meanwhile, attempts to escape the woman who seriously wants to do him harm. Stealing half a billion credits’ worth of the most valuable substance in the galaxy tends to attract such negative attention. Of course, it might have more to do with his blasting off her arm in a previous encounter. That tends to miff some people.
Now, Commander Tara Shaw wants to kill Remy and take the loot for herself. The more pain she causes him, the better.
3. Mean Old World
He took her arm. Destroyed her career. The least she can do is take his life.
Commander Tara Shaw has one goal: to kill Captain Remy Bechet. True, joining forces with the pirate king, Larker Max, wasn’t her best idea, but it’s certainly put her on a collision course with her quarry.
Remy, meanwhile, flies the R.L. Johnson deep into the Belt, trying to stay one step ahead of the law. To protect his crew, he needs to locate a portal that will transport him beyond the reach of Shaw and his former friend Captain Jason Pike. He just hopes the portal he’s seeking is still where he left it.
And down on the planet Vox, Sheriff Lilly Greyson’s day goes from lousy to much, much worse. The regular shipment of nano-biotics keeping most of her town’s population alive is ahead of schedule. But it seems someone with bad intentions might have gotten to it first.
4. That’s All Right
Imprisoned and falsely accused of mass murder? No problem. OK, maybe a little one.
Captain Remy Bechet has gotten out of many sticky situations… but now he stands accused of killing everyone on board a med ship and stealing some much-needed medicine for the citizens of Vox. Perhaps this time, his luck has run out.
Dreyla, meanwhile, finds herself in a detention center, separated from Remy and Tosh. But an unexpected ally might just be the ticket to escaping and tracking down her crew members.
With the people of Naillik counting on her for their very lives, Sheriff Lilly Greyson must do whatever it takes to recover the stolen meds. Her only hope may lie with the mysterious pirate captain in her jail cell. But trust does not come easy for her.
5. My Mojo Working
A planet at risk. Time running out. Who you gonna call?
Captain Remy Bechet may be under arrest for a crime he didn’t commit, but he doesn’t mind. Cuz he, along with Naillik’s sheriff and her minions, are headed back to the Jay, the ship that’s meant freedom to him for two decades and, hopefully, will again. Very soon.
Sheriff Lilly Greyson’s world is closing in on her and everyone else on Vox. If she can’t retrieve the stolen nano-biotics, countless lives will be lost. With any luck, she’ll find some answers in the med ship where the massacre took place, and maybe even in the mysterious craft piloted by the enigmatic Captain Bechet.
Commander Tara Shaw, meanwhile, must decide how involved she wants to get in Gono Darkbur’s criminal schemes, which may force her to step over a line she’s unwilling to cross. Especially since all she really wants is to kill Captain Bechet and get her and her crew off this infernal planet.
After busting out of captivity, Dreyla Bechet and her oft-dosed cohort, Doc Tosh, must craft a plan to rescue their captain, flee the planet Vox, and, possibly, find their way home.
6. I’m Your Hoochie Coochie Man
Three extremely different people. All facing impossible choices that could affect an entire planet. Who says there’s no such thing as a wrong decision?
Sheriff Lilly Greyson and her people are trapped on a powerless ship. A ruthless group of assassins, intent on taking over the planet Vox, wants them dead. Their only hope may lie with an unexpected savior.
Captain Remy Bechet is free and flying again. But can he abandon the sheriff and her people on the Jay? Can he really let them all die? Not if Dreyla and Tosh have anything to say about it.
Commander Tara Shaw isn’t sure she picked the winning side. Especially when she sees the man she vowed to kill escape in the ship she considered stealing. But she’ll play the cards she’s dealt and wait for the ideal moment to make her move.
7. Knock on Wood
Sometimes, dire circumstances call for a new approach. No guarantee, though, that it will work out well.
Captain Remy Bechet will do anything to get him and his crew back to their own universe. Even play the role of hero.
Sheriff Lilly Greyson, meanwhile, still hopes to save her adopted planet. But to accomplish this feat, she must do something she finds incredibly difficult… trust three troublesome strangers.
As for Commander Tara Shaw, she doesn’t do “hero.” She simply wants to get out from under Gono Darkbur’s thumb and escape this infernal planet. If she can kill Remy before then, all the better.
8. Ain’t Nobody’s Business
Tread softly. Carry a big gun. Do the job and run away.
Captain Remy Bechet has made a living out of that philosophy. But now there’s more at stake than just his next score.
He, Sheriff Lilly Greyson, and the rest of the gang launch their mission to retrieve the nano-biotics. Without the meds, a good portion of the planet will suffer and die. And Gono Darkbur will rule more than just the world.
Commander Tara Shaw, meanwhile, has her doubts. Not about killing Bechet… but about being part of Darkbur’s delusional scheme to control the solar system. She just wants to get off this infernal rock and back to her own universe… if that’s even possible.
9. The Sky Is Crying
Is it really stealing if you’re simply stealing back what’s already been stolen? Nah… it’s all good.
Captain Remy Bechet’s operation to reclaim the much-needed meds is well underway. But as often happens with him, things don’t go according to plan. Can the resourceful pirate manage to complete the job without getting his people caught in the crossfire?
Sheriff Lilly Greyson has little choice but to follow Bechet’s scheme. After all, the pirate has tackled jobs like this before. She should be repulsed by someone with such a checkered past, but she’s not. So, what’s really keeping her on track? The man or the mission?
Commander Tara Shaw, meanwhile, is done working for the scum of Vox. She and her crew aim to find a functioning ship and get off this dreaded planet. But can she leave without shooting the man she vowed to kill?
