1. Pirates at Sea
Julie Daubigny only had one task: hunt down the pirates that had stolen from her family, get rid of them and recover what they had taken. It wouldn’t be an easy task, but she was confident she could do it without too many problems.
She had her mentor with her after all, and her other companions, mages all of them; but plans rarely survived contact with the enemy. Only this time their plan got derailed before they even found their enemies’ lair, and it did so in a manner she could never have expected.
2. Princess’s Favor
Julie hoped for some time to relax after her task was fulfilled, but after returning home she was faced with a new challenge. The royal family was calling for a great tournament, and her mother wanted her to go as their family’s representant. It was an honor granted because of her success with her previous task, but one she would wield nonetheless.
She should have known it wouldn’t be as easy as it appeared. Between Miriam and their relationship, her fear of her mother’s judgement, and the meddling of an annoying princess, she would have her plate fuller than she expected to.
3. Assassin’s Fate
Julie’s life had turned so much lately she didn’t know how she still kept her mind. She found a lover in a place she never expected to, and she became a princess’s handmaiden and knight.
It was good for her reputation and her family, but she hated it. Amelie had basically forced her into it, and her new duties stopped her from traveling as she did before, defending her family’s interests. Worst of all was that it meant she spent most of her time away from Miriam, as her team went on missions without her.
She could have held on, contented herself with waiting for her lover, enjoying the times they were together. And she did, very much so. It was becoming harder to refuse Amelie’s advances though, despite it all, the princess was very seductive and intent in getting into Julie’s bed, and Miriam’s missing presence only made Julie more vulnerable.
And now they were on a voyage, almost alone but for some of Amelie’s guards, and Julie was just about to give up and stop resisting. Thankfully, a considerate assassin decided that was the right time to intervene.
