Requirements: .ePUB reader, 224 KB
Overview: “Friendship and Betrayal” is a Pride and Prejudice Variation Novella of aproximately 37 K words ( aprox. 150 pages), mixing romance with moderate angst and some original twists in our beloved characters’ behaviour.
While Darcy is in Kent suffering the most unexpected, painful, and mortifying rejection, Wickham spends several days in London, where he calls on the Gardiners but also makes sure that his path crosses with Mr Bingley. Seizing the opportunity to take revenge and hurt Darcy again, Wickham informs Bingley that Jane has been in town for three months, suggesting that Darcy concealed the truth from him. Furthermore, Wickham implies that Darcy wilfully wronged not only him but Bingley too, for no other reason than his selfish desire to always have his own way.
By the time Darcy arrives in London, heartbroken and wounded, Bingley has already reunited with Jane. When he invites his old friend to his house to confess his error in separating him from Jane Bennet, Darcy has to face an angry, resentful man — more an adversary than a friend — who throws at him the same accusations he has already heard from Elizabeth. In the midst of London high society, overwhelmed by attention he has never wanted, Darcy struggles with the repugnance and contempt of the only woman he has ever loved and with the hate and resentment of his best friend.
