1. Flame Over Empire
If you think going to university is hard, then it’s a million times worse at the Salphea Institute of Magic. Lance Albatross is a freshman looking to lay low, graduate with a degree in magic engineering, and be on his way. Unfortunately for him, things at military magic institutes aren’t so simple.
The authoritarian Pryvale Union holds a death-grip over its citizens, and every day people’s freedoms are stripped away. To add insult to injury, magic-infused creatures known as Anomalies are attacking citizens with startling frequency. The world is a grim place, and that reality is not lost on Lance.
Hope comes in the form of the Disaster Trigger. One fateful night, it attaches itself to Lance. Its origins are a mystery, but its powers are absolute. Can Lance and his friends use the Disaster Trigger’s power to help the world or will the cycle of hate outlive them all?
2. Darkness Rising
Lance Albatross is about to begin his second semester of magical-military training, having just defeated the school’s corrupt Chancellor. Things are going well: his girlfriend and friends support him, his grades are good, and the Disaster Trigger was saved. His life as a freshman takes an exciting turn when he finds out that the National Cadet Tournament is being hosted. It’s a tournament featuring all the top military schools in the nation and Lance wants in.
Earning one of the 512 spots will be hard, if not impossible. On his way to earning a spot, Lance will have to fight through vicious Anomalies, a manic new professor, and even his best friend. A gathering of the most powerful young fighters in the nation also attracts the attention of some dark forces. The stakes have never been higher for Salphea’s young revolutionaries. Will they eek out a victory or will the shadows take over?
