The First World War through the Magic Lantern by Andrew Gill
Requirements: EPUB/MOBI/AZW3 Reader 9.1 MB, 2014
Overview: The magic lantern was the Victorian predecessor of the pre-digital slide projector. By 1914 it was considered to be very old fashioned. Despite this, during and after the First World War, thousands of photographic slides of the battlefields and the home front were produced by the War Office and used for lectures and as training aids and shown to the general public in cinemas. The 70 lantern slides featured in this book are from my collection and are accompanied by explanatory text and the testimony of a British Tommy.
