#10 Kathy
Life changed forever for Kathy Browning one tragic, fateful day in 1960 when her husband murdered their children, another man, and himself in front of her. Three years later, she’s battling serious depression, still trying to pick up enough shattered pieces of what’s left to continue living. She has all but given up when Fate intervenes again, this time in the form of one Charles Kelly. Full of anger, grief, and pain, Kathy’s less than appreciative of his interference, and she doesn’t hesitate to let him know just that.
As for Charles, he’s been keeping an eye on Kathy for months now ever since a chance meeting at a dinner party. Intrigued by what he sees and what he suspects—that there’s more to Kathy than she shows the world—he’s drawn to her intellectually, emotionally, and physically, and he’s determined to learn more about her. Aware of snippets of her tragic past, it isn’t until he happens across her in a life-threatening situation of her own making that he realizes just how deep her wounds go. All he can hope to do is help her see another path to the future.
“Kathy” is the tenth book in the Firefly Hollow series, though it takes place chronologically after book one. It is the story of a severely abused and traumatized woman who is struggling to hold on to life, and it contains detailed references to the abuse and violence she suffered at the hands of her husband. There are also scenes of a sexual nature between the two main characters. It’s a story of hope and redemption, but it does tackle very dark subjects, so reader discretion is strongly advised.
#11 Murky Pond
With one passionate night and one very big mistake, a years-long friendship was sent spinning down the drain. At least, that was what Lily Campbell feared. Not wanting to face the reality of what she’d done with her best friend, she fled across the globe. Months later, with her job ending, she has to return home to Dragonfly Creek Farm and face the man she left behind.
Warren Sullivan suffered unimaginable loss in the past and somehow managed to survive, but Lily running far and fast after the night they spent together cut him to his soul. When she returns, he’s determined to give her the cold shoulder—a resolution that lasts all of five minutes. Drawn to each other like never before, they’re both wary of being ripped apart even as their feelings pull them into a passion-filled whirlwind.
Murky Pond is the twelfth book in the “Firefly Hollow” Series, Women’s Fiction Romances set in and around Appalachia.
#12 Burning Springs
“Sometimes life throws things at us we don’t expect. Often, really. And when that happens, sometimes the course we set for ourselves isn’t the road we end up on.”
Molly Campbell never expected to find herself working as a waitress in a diner in the middle of small-town Tennessee. She certainly never anticipated that she would develop feelings for one of the diner’s patrons, never mind that she would find herself homeless and having to rely on his kindness for shelter. But that’s where she ended up, struggling to reconcile reality with her hopes and dreams in order to come to terms with both.
Jonah Sutton doesn’t trust the redheaded Kentucky girl his aunt hired to help out in the diner. Convinced she’s hiding something, he vows to stick close so he can keep an eye on Molly. It doesn’t take long for his suspicion to turn to intrigue, and when a crisis hits close to home, he’s more than happy to step up and offer her his support. He never imagined his toughest battle would be figuring out a way to convince her to stay in Burning Springs and build a life with him.
Burning Springs is the thirteenth book in the “Firefly Hollow” series, women’s fiction romances set in Appalachia that follow the Campbell family through generations. It contains paranormal elements of traditional Appalachian folklore.
Letters from Owen (Firefly Hollow Snapshots)
When Sarah Campbell enlists three of her grandchildren to help with her annual spring cleaning, she knows to expect joking, teasing, and not a little laughter. What she isn’t anticipating is that the kids will find a treasure thought lost decades earlier—a small wooden box full of letters. Spanning more than a decade, the letters tell the story of the early years of her marriage to Owen and commemorate the kinds of events that pepper a relationship through time—births, deaths, personal losses, arguments, frustrations, and most of all love.
Letters from Owen is a novella-length book in the Firefly Hollow Series.
