Fire and Ice (Book 1):
Kathleen Haley is a beautiful Irish lass who inherits her father’s fleet of ships. Kathleen is skilled at sailing, swordsmanship, and possesses a unique connection to the sea and its creatures, talents known only to a select few.
Now she must sail to Savannah to reside with relatives. On the voyage, circumstances force her to marry the captain hired to escort her. Reed Taylor also has family and owns a plantation in Savannah. Kathleen is convinced he has wed her only to claim her wealth and her fleet, and she vows revenge.
Landing first in Louisiana, Kathleen learns that Reed is associated with Jean Lafitte. Furious that Reed intends to outfit the ship for his pirating ventures while dumping her in Savannah, Kathleen blackmails him. She won’t reveal his piracy if he does not reveal their marriage.
Upon the arrival of another of her ships in Savannah, Kathleen has her crew hide and refit it. She then disguises herself as Emerald, daring lady pirate, and the adventures begin.
Ashes and Ecstasy (Book 2 – October 2018):
Kathleen and Reed are back in the sequel to Fire and Ice, but their idyllic life in Savannah is about to be ripped apart by the onset of the War of 1812. When Reed enlists as a privateer offering his ships and services to the fledgling American Navy, Kathleen yearns to go along, but must remain behind to care for their children.
All goes well until Kathleen receives news that Reed’s ship has been lost in a storm and the whole crew is assumed dead. Devastated and in denial, Kathleen sets sail to search for him herself, enlisting the help of Jean Lafitte. After many months, she is forced to accept that Reed is gone.
Mourning deeply, she seeks revenge against the British, and again assumes the identity of Emerald, the infamous lady pirate. Together, she and Jean journey across the seas. But an ironic twist of fate answers Kathleen’s fervent prayers, only to confront her with evidence of a betrayal that will threaten everything she holds most dear.
