Fighting Soldier: The AEF in 1918 by Joseph Douglas Lawrence
Requirements: .ePUB, .MOBI/.AZW reader, 2.8 Mb
Overview: This narrative of things that took place in 1918 has meaning for people of today; it is a part of history that should not be forgotten. When we entered both World Wars we were not prepared to engage a major nation. In both wars the men of other nations held the enemy until we could build a fighting force, which took considerable time. For them our unpreparedness brought grave danger. The Kaiser had just about won World War I when we entered. All over the war zone we soldiers were told we were too late, the war was lost. While watching a new British infantry company move up toward the front I heard an elderly English YMCA man standing near me say, “Look at those old men and young boys. What can you expect of them in battle?”
