Fiction Complete by Robert Presslie (ed. Jerry eBooks 2020)
Requirements: ePUB reader, 2.9Mb
Overview: Robert Presslie was born on January 11, 1920. He was a British author who worked as a pharmacy manager in London.
Presslie’s first sale was “Trespassers Will Be Prosecuted” for the June 1955 issue of Authentic Science Fiction. He was prolific in the late 1950s, twice achieving the feat of simultaneous publication in three major UK magazines: Authentic Science Fiction, Nebula Science Fiction and Science Fantasy in October 1957; and Nebula Science Fiction, New Worlds Science Fiction and Science Fantasy in December 1958. His most known story is “Another Word for Man”.
Presslie is sometimes cited as the best representative of the many forgotten writers who helped create the typical genre-magazine ambience of that era; his competent stories assisted the gradual improvement in British magazine sf away from pulp adventures towards more thoughtful works amidst which writers such as Brian Aldiss and J.G. Ballard could develop.
Robert Presslie died on September 5, 2000 in Dudley, West Midlands.
