Ferragost / Molasses by Melina Marchetta, Kirsty Eagar (Review of Australian Fiction, Volume 3, Issue 4)
Requirements: ePUB Reader, 5.1 MB
Overview: Melina was actually one of the first Australian authors to agree to contribute to the Review of Australian Fiction when we first started, way back when. But she asked to be in a later volume because she was, at the time, working on the third instalment of her much loved fantasy series, the Lumatere Chronicles
Also included is a story by Kirsty Eagar. Melina Marchetta chose Kirsty to be paired with in this issue, and we are very glad she did, because Kirsty is a tremendous writer of fiction, with three novels to her name: Raw Blue (2009), Saltwater Vampires (2010), and the recent Night Beach (2012). If you haven’t read any of these yet, go out and do so.

Ferragost by Melina Marchetta (Lumatere Chronicles #2.5)
Lady Celie of the Lumateran Flatlands is visiting the Belegonian spring castle on the isle of Ferragost. Cut off from the rest of Belegonia by poor weather, she is confined to the island with four others, including the mysterious castellan of the castle. When the body of one of the guests is discovered on the rocks outside the east tower, Celie is not only considered a suspect, but finds herself embroiled in events that are entwined with her own kingdom’s cursed history, as well as the future of the entire land of Skuldenore.
