Finding space/time Fissures to nearby star systems should have been historic and profitable. After all, ships from Earth could travel to 61 Cygni in seconds instead of decades. That star system alone doubled the raw materials available to Earth’s Corporations. And that’s not counting the Fissure to Epsilon Eridani and its Earth-like planet.
But the Fissures had attracted all the wrong kinds of attention, which forced Conrad to at least attempt to exploit those star systems’ wealth. Otherwise, his inaction risked raising questions that would destroy his plan. That means he will have to divert ships and crew through those Fissures, starting with 61 Cygni.
Worse, his rivals have more ships than he has crew members. Those rivals also have very different ideas about the rules of engagement. Can he fend them off? Or will the Fissures kill his plan — and him?
