Equoid is a new novella (released Oct. 16, 2013) in Charles Stross’ ongoing Laundry series of Lovecraftian secret-agent bureaucratic dark comedies, which has now grown to encompass four novels and several works of short fiction. The Laundry is the code name for the secret British governmental agency whose mission is to guard the realm from occult threats.
Influenced by Lovecraft’s visions of the future, the series is set in a world where a computer and the right mathematical equations are just as useful a tool-set for calling up horrors from other dimensions as a spell-book and a pentagram on the floor.
