Genre: Fiction > Mystery/Thriller
Emie woke up in a place so dark she wasn’t sure she actually opened her eyes. The young woman blinked several times to ensure she wasn’t plunged into a dream, as she had been in the past few weeks; memories of a dreary childhood came knocking at the door of sleep, and entered uninvited.
In these dreams, her uncle Tom often appeared. His hand would run up her left leg; his finger would slip under the fly of her jeans. In these dreams, she was thirteen years old.
Emie gasped. No sound, no light. She waved her arms behind her back. Handcuffed.
Nothing came to disturb the eerie quietness of the obscurity. Only the sound of her breathing was audible, and nothing informed about the place. She folded her legs under her pelvis, and tried to get up.
She staggered back to her seat with an uneasy feeling. She had been knocked out, perhaps drugged. The silence was complete. Her head slumped on the mattress on the floor on which she had been lying down. What did she remember before the fainting?
Remember. Memories are sometimes preceded by tears, but not this time.
